The hotel is beautifully designed, with a calm and elegant atmosphere. The front desk staff were professional, and the minibar was restocked daily with complimentary drinks, which I appreciated.
However, I experienced serious service issues during my 10-day stay. In the restaurant: disorganization, lack of attentiveness, and hygiene concerns. I shared detailed feedback, and while management responded promptly and respectfully, the improvements I later observed were almost entirely due to one particularly competent staff member. The broader team remained passive, and the service lacked structure and consistency.
Housekeeping was also disappointing. The bed sheets were never changed during my entire stay, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this category. The bath mat was sometimes missing, and overall room maintenance felt minimal.
Noise was an issue as well — not only from nearby bars (understandable in a central location), but also from within the hotel itself. My room, located on the first floor, suffered from structural resonance and poor sound insulation.
In short, while the hotel has potential and some staff members did their best, my overall experience fell far below expectations in terms of consistency, comfort, and basic service standards.
Update following the hotel’s public response:
Thank you for your reply. That said, I was somewhat surprised by the highly standardized tone of your public response, which contrasts with our private email exchange — where the issues I raised, including serious hygiene concerns, were acknowledged and addressed with sincerity.
I understand the importance of protecting a hotel's image, but some facts cannot be brushed aside as a matter of guest preference or urban background noise. Going 10 days without a sheet change, lacking basic supervision in the restaurant, and witnessing unacceptable hygiene practices (such as cutlery picked up from the floor being returned to the clean drawer, or used dishes put away without washing) deserve more than vague references to “sustainability” or “guest collaboration.”
I genuinely hope the concrete measures discussed in private — especially those regarding hygiene protocols and service oversight — will be maintained and...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Stay!! We stayed at Elysia Boutique Hotel for six nights in May 2025 as a family of four, and it was hands down one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had , not just in Crete, but across all of Greece. This brand-new property is located right in the heart of Old Town Chania, making it the perfect base to explore the island. But what truly sets Elysia apart is how much thought and care has gone into every detail. The design is modern and sophisticated, yet effortlessly respects and preserves the Venetian charm of the old town. The architecture and interiors are stunning, bold but warm, elegant but inviting. It’s clear that nothing was overlooked by the designers. And then there’s the service :) absolutely exceptional. The staff went above and beyond for us every single day. all staff were amazing but a special mention to Theodoros (GM), Anna, and Demos, they were unbelievably helpful and accommodating, handling every request with grace and care. From organizing personalized daily itineraries to making sure every moment of our stay was seamless, they delivered a level of service we haven’t even experienced in some of Europe’s top luxury hotels. It felt personal, genuine, and truly thoughtful. We are not big breakfast people but every morning, we looked forward to the incredible breakfast , fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. It became one of our favourite parts of the day. Elysia Boutique Hotel is a hidden gem that blends contemporary luxury with historical soul and unmatched hospitality. I will return here every time I’m back in Chania.. no question. And I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined, boutique experience with...
Read moreWe stayed at Elysia for five nights recently and count this as one of our favourite hotel experiences. The service of the staff rates up there with any of the top hotels we have stayed at. They anticipated our every need, from packing us breakfast boxes when we had an early start to helping us with hire cars and transfers and tips for our stay, and just being genuinely nice people who love what they do. Our hotel stay was itself one of the highlights of our trip to Crete. The hotel itself is new and thoughtfully designed, and impeccably clean and quiet despite the great bars and dining downstairs. Location is unbeatable (reviews don't do it justice), with taxi drop off and pick up directly outside the hotel. Parking for our hire car was easily found a five minute walk away in free car parks or side streets a couple of blocks away outside of the old town zone (just google). The hotel is located on what we thought was the best side of old town with atmosphere and great dining and is a two minute walk to the old port and all of the main shopping, which made night time strolling enjoyable and very safe. The room was very comfortable (we booked the base room) with a complimentary mini bar stocked daily with non alcoholic drinks and good amenity and furnishings including beach towels and beach bag, robes, daily sweet treats and a comfortable bed and great aircon. Finally the breakfast was exceptional, a quiet and peaceful start to every day with a good selection of local and western food choices and great coffee. Thank you Elysia team for making our travels that little bit...
