There are about 8 rooms with 3 toilets, all of them with shower; there's a kitchen with an electric stove, a toaster, a microwave, a kettle and a fridge. There's bread, chocolate/pb/jam spread, and coffee for the guests. There's a nice common area and a washing machine + dryer. The room we stayed in was big enough for 2 people, with working A/C and a desk. Overall the place is clean. It all went good, check in was easy and pretty straightforward (once booked, you receive a code for the door, and you'll find your room key hanging on your assigned room) There's a restaurant downstairs but to be honest we couldn't ear any sound coming from it (and yes the restaurant was open) Location is ok, 10min walk from Jonker Street.

For the price paid (roughly RM50 per night), we couldn’t ask for anything better. As a family, we booked two rooms and each came with a double bed. Full set of facilities with 4 shared bathrooms down the hall. All were well-maintained and clean. Nearby eateries that are close to the prime area but not TOO prime. So, finding parking right at our doorstep was not a problem at all. The hotel is located in a shoplot and there were in total 7-8 rooms only. So it gives a hostel vibe without being too crowded. The interior furniture is very nostalgic and antique, lovely design choice by the host. Tip: remember to call the number on the door to get the passcode because the room is self-checkin.

We didn't expect much and were still disappointed… Check-in was straightforward, and the hostel boasts a prime location. While the kitchen meets basic standards, the breakfast is quite simple. The initial room price seemed fair, but unfortunately, our assigned room was far from clean, featuring noticeable stains on the bedding and mold in the room. Seeking a resolution, I reached out to the staff and was promptly moved to a significantly better and cleaner room the next day. Overall, the stay was decent, though the initial mold issue did impact the overall experience. The hostel, suitable for a short stay, could benefit from more rigorous cleanliness standards.

Check in information was clear, thorough and detailed. 👍

This is a self-check in property, so it depends as some may like it more, some may prefer staffed-check in procedure. 🤷‍♀️

Cons : • Only outside Bathroom, so it’s quite hard when you ‘really have to go’ with full occupancy. 😅

• Very noisy at night-time as there’s a restaurant down stairs. OK for people who have no problem sleeping with noises. 🫣

• Poor Noise insulation, you can hear doors banging, being slammed and open-shut, even hear footsteps, cough and conversation. You can also hear other person arguing over the phone 😌

• Other guests are loud. It may be disturbing sleep quality. As it’s a shared common area property, you’ll just have to tolerate the noises, sharing spaces and equipment, taking turns using utensils and toilet. Frankly if you have no problem with sharing space and you like socializing, it’ll be fine for you. 🤷‍♀️

Pros : • Bed is comfortable to sleep in 💤 • Air conditioner is cold ✨ • Free Bread, Coffee, Tea • Accesible Stove, Microwave, Water Boiler at common kitchen • Laundry Area 👍 • Restaurant and 7-11 just located downstairs 👍 • Self Check In, as it’s easy and quick, there’s no need to wait for check in by staff that normally takes some time to prepare the room. As it’s self check in, your room is already assigned upon arrival. 👌

Final Verdict :

For me, it’s worth the price that we paid.

For those not keen on sharing spaces and value silence and noise insulation, there is also other options around the area at similar price.

It really depends on your taste if you mind sharing common areas and depend on your...

This guesthouse is so cute. The staff really make you feel like you are right at home. There is free drinking water, coffee, tea, toast, jams and oatmeal ALWAYS available. They also provide a local dish for breakfast (not sure what it’s called) but it was delicious, as well as a variety of other treats and samosa-like pastry. The staff even set aside the local breakfast for us to have when we got up, as we slept past “breakfast hours”. The rooms are basic, but very clean. All you really need. Very comfortable beds & GREAT A/C. The bathrooms are spotless. Also provide shampoo and soap. There is also a common loft, with cool antique objects and fun pictures. It is a wonderful place to hang out/ have some drinks in. There is a washing machine & dryer available for self use, at 4RM each. Highly recommend this place! It’s a bit difficult to locate, as there are no signs, however it is right beside the 7/11, attached to a restaurant (look for 68A)/ a cute lady will probably pop out to ask if you are looking for peninsula. The location, however, was PERFECT. It is in walking distance to main tourist sites. Loon (the lovely gentleman, that checked us in) was SO helpful and friendly. He is awesome. Makes u feel right at home and is very informative about the city. If we ever make it back to malacca, we would definitely stay again. The only negative about once in peninsula...

When I arrived at the homestay, I did not know that the owner was not there and I need to call. Luckily within a few minutes the owner arrived with the room key and access card. Therefore, pls contact the owner of the actual time of ur arrival.||The homestay overall is very clean but the doors need to be installed by a rubber or something as it creates a loud bang when closing it. Unfortunately, i have someone next door does not know how to close the door gently and always ended up with a loud bang. Luckily they just stay a night!||The toilet cum shower facilities are rather small but adequate. Owner should consider placing a warning sticker on the floor when entering the back toilet shower as it is one level lower and I almost trip.||Facilities wise is pretty basic and there r coffee sachets, kettle, white bread, water dispenser to help urself. Pretty good for the price being charged. ||The homestay is also next to a Hakka restaurant, 7-11 and Restoran Pak Putra (the ayam tandaoori and naan is superb!!).||Parking can be challenge at night and u need to park at the main road with parking bay marked. Just make sure u properly locked ur car as the area can be very quiet...
