Kawan Sayang Guest House — Hotel in Malacca

I had a good stay here, 2 nights, on the ground floor. Room, toilets, and bathrooms were clean. The air-conditioning was good. However, my room had a mouldy smell - some ventilation/humidity issue. There are shampoo and body wash tubes for guests to use freely. Also, being so close to the community wash basin, when fellow guests were loud, it was hard to sleep. The sign that reminded guests to keep voices low after 11pm was not heeded/noticed; I'm not sure which was the case. Also, early in the morning, I could hear the call to prayer by the mosque nearby. It was not deafening, but loud enough to wake me up. Otherwise, the location is great - very convenient to go to Jonker St, and almost next to Kaya Kaya Cafe, where they serve one of the best chicken chops I've ever had!||||Staff was helpful and nice. After all, I stayed here for four nights if my memory doesn't betray me. Situated in a road parallel to Jonker street it lies in Chinatown close to many attractions one may want to visit. My room contained two separate mattresses lying directly on the floor. The linen was removed from the unused mattress (that one was directly opposite to the AC/fan above the door) and I used it for my luggage. Only one light at the ceiling, no extra light at the 'bed post' for reading. The shared bath room was just outside of the room, three decent shower cabines and a wc. I was travelling solo, arrived at the doorstep, only to be greeted by a strong stench of urine, and a receptionist who looked like she just got out of bed, and was not even interested in serving me when I asked "I've made a reservation, did you receive it?" ||||Upon walking to my room on the ground floor, I passed by the first room, door opened, with an old man laying on what seemed to be a clean mattress, with folded blankets, legs wide open.
