The Good:
The food was absolutely delicious.
One of my frustrations with most Indian restaurants when it comes to Tandoori Chicken is they have these red food colored Tandoori Chicken that is precooked. When the order comes in, they reheat that chicken and send it on to the customer. The chicken ends up being dry and tasting horrible. That was not the case here. You could taste the chicken was moist, freshly cooked and it was spicy exactly how we had ordered it. It was perhaps the best tandoori chicken we have had in a restaurant.
The Goan Fish Curry was flavorful, spicy and tasty. We were happy with it. So was the Naan.
The Bad:
For our two toddlers who cannot tolerate spice, we had asked for Very Mild Chicken Hakka Noodle. We had told our server it is for our very young kids and to not make it spicy. He acknowledged it. Their noodle was delivered first. I served it to my girls and the first thing they said was the chicken was very spicy. I tasted it and it was indeed very spicy. The noodle was mild but the chicken that they had fried and added to the noodles was really spicy for the kids.
I brought this up to the gentleman who delivered the rest of our food. He said he would check with the kitchen but no one came to check back on us.
The service was non existent. Not once did our server or anyone for that matter stopped by to check on us. Our water glasses were never refilled, we were not asked once how our food was!
Meanwhile I think most Indians can relate to being treated as second class citizens in an Indian restaurant where white people are present! We were the only Indians at this restaurant and I noticed our server having long conversations with the white family behind us.
Finally the Ugly:
I took my girls to the restroom and if I saw the restroom before we ate, I would have seriously walked out! It was so disgusting. You could see fecal matter on the rim of the toilet and the toilet seat was so disgusting I feel nauseous just thinking about it. We went to the Public Restroom at Forsyth Park in the morning and that restroom was 1000 times cleaner than this one. Seriously I have seen rest area restrooms on the highway much cleaner than this.
If they cannot maintain their restrooms, I shudder to think what their kitchen would look like! Yuck!
Definitely do...
Read moreGood gracious this food was delicious! My family and I came down to Savannah for a family vacation to celebrate some birthdays we have pretty close together. I'm not joking when I say the smell of this restaurant will have you floating down the street like a Looney Tunes character. I ordered my favourite dish from another similar restaurant back home, the Malai Kofta - and as usual I was nothing less than astonished with how good the dish is. No surprise there. The only comments I have were more about the atmosphere. The restaurant is smaller and lit fairly light, even for night time - so it didnt seem to match the vibes compared to how exquisite the food was. If you closed your eyes, you were sitting in a 5-star fine dining restaurant. If you kept them open, it felt more like a sub shop with nice chairs. Everyone was also sat fairly close to eachother with not very much walking room, especially around the smaller tables. Above all though, the food was absolutely delicious and our server did a great job remembering all of the food we had ordered (it was a party of 5, and we do like our food so it's not like we went easy on him) and checked on us fairly regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I'd gladly eat here 100 times over, regardless of the look of the inside (but seriously though, a little dimmer lighting would probably help a lot!)
Thanks for having us!...
Read moreSome of the BEST Indian food I have ever had, but I also need to say it was some of the HOTTEST Indian food that i have ever had.
I saw a couple of reviews that mentioned excessive heat and while I cannot disagree with that, I can tell you some of the dishes I had were just amazing. It is toward the end of the tourist area of Broughton St. Across from the Marshall House and down the street from Leopoldo’s Ice Cream. We dined without a reservation but it did fill up while we were there.
So the food: Butter Naan - good, not special, but good. Rosemary Naan - really good choice, but messy. Tamarind Sauce - came with the bread, so good I could drink it. Make sure you ask for it. Mint Sauce - another great sauce, has a slight kick Saag Paneer - really good, not amazing but good. Tikki with Saag - wonderful flavor, but was too spicy for my tastes. But it was sooo good I tried. Tikki with Shrimp - AMAZING flavors. The first one came out too spicy, so they made another one and the flavors just rock. Curried Tilapia - another good dish, not too spicy but the wild caught Tilapia was perfectly layered in the flavors.
Overall, I found the service to be quite amazing. Very little was missed and there was a genuine effort to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Very very happy with...
