Today (28.08.2025, around 17:25) I had a very unpleasant experience at this store. I went to pick up a parcel for a family member (online order, pay in store). The employee at the checkout (long black hair) was extremely unfriendly from the start and said: “Is this how you pick up parcels at a post shop?“ in what felt like a very rude tone, rather than telling me that i needed a slip.
When I explained that my family member was not in Berlin, rather than being helpful and telling me immediately that I need a permission slip her response was: “That is not my problem.” I addressed her formally and politely, but she accused me of being “rude“ and that I should change my tone in regards to her. She started raising her voice at me, and caused a scene.
I got the permission paper, which I showed her. She first refused to read it, saying: “I don’t see where it says that you have permission“ then added: “I don’t understand English, that is not my problem,” and ignored my offer to translate it for her. When I asked if someone in the store spoke English, she said no.
Ironically, the kind colleague right next to her spoke perfect English and helped me immediately and without any problems. I understand the rules, but this behavior was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely...

First of all none of them can speak english, it’s maybe not a problem as we are in Germany, but it’s a big problem as we are in the centre of Berlin, which has a plenty of tourists around, that really want to give you their money and buy good quality cosmetics, moreover, a great deal of foreigners in this city make english the most important skill. Secondly, providing the best service, employees must have the right qualities, such as elementary smile, friendliness, involvement, which i didn’t see and in opposite, workers prefer to communicate with each other in front of you without even saying “hallo”. This violates all professional standards. Thirdly, when it comes to appearance of employees it is crucial to understand that they represent the company. Read moreI had a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience at Douglas in the Alex Mall. I visited the store with my parents and we were testing perfumes, as any customer might. After just a few minutes, a staff member approached us and accused me of stealing a perfume. I was shocked and confused. I immediately offered to let them check my bag and pockets, confident that I had done nothing wrong.
The employee claimed they had seen something on the camera and proceeded to show me the footage—which clearly showed no wrongdoing. Eventually, they admitted it was a mistake and said, “Sorry, it was someone else.”
But by then, the damage had been done. Being publicly accused and treated with suspicion, only to be casually dismissed afterward with a simple apology, felt humiliating. It felt like we were targeted and wrongly judged—possibly because we are foreigners. This experience has left a lasting impact on my mental well-being.
