Terrible customer service – avoid Bev Mart!
Unfortunately, my experience with Bev Mart was extremely disappointing. The staff treats customers like criminals – raising their voices, yelling, and even insulting people without cause. I placed an online order that was accepted and then randomly canceled with no reasonable explanation, only to be accused of "fraud."
Here’s a piece of advice for the staff and owners: if you treat every customer like a thief, you won’t stay in business for long. You lost a potential regular customer who was looking to buy a rare type of alcohol that very few people would have purchased. Instead of securing a loyal customer and making consistent sales, you chose to be rude and disrespectful.
The golden rule of business is simple: The customer is always right – not you. Try being more humble and professional next time.
FOLLOW-UP TO THE OWNER"S RESPONSE: Thank you for your reply — though it confirms everything I initially described. I’d like to clarify a few things so that future customers can better understand what really happened:
There were no instructions or prompts during the online order process indicating that I needed to notify the store if someone else would be picking up the order. Had that been communicated clearly, I would’ve done so without hesitation.
While my friend initially arrived to pick up the order, she left after being treated rudely. Despite that, I was still on my way to the store to pick it up myself, as the person who placed the order. Rather than simply waiting a few minutes or reaching out to me (the customer), the store decided to cancel my order and label it as fraud – a serious and unjustified accusation.
When I called to discuss the issue, I was met with raised voices and interruptions, not a constructive conversation. I was never given a chance to explain – I was yelled at for asking a valid question about why my order was canceled.
I understand that small businesses have their own policies. However, successful business owners also understand the importance of professionalism and respectful communication, even when there’s a misunderstanding. The tone in your reply, calling a customer a "bullet" to dodge and stating that people like me are a "hassle," speaks volumes about how little regard you have for customer relationships.
Fortunately, Hawaii has many other local businesses that value customer service, transparency, and respect. And as someone who lives on the island and supports local businesses regularly, I believe mutual respect should always be part of the equation — especially when you're in the service industry.
Wishing you more empathy and understanding in the future. That’s how long-term business...
Read moreTried ordering an expensive bottle of champagne for delivery. Mind you, I am on the mainland trying to gift locals that I stayed with a little cheer. After calling was instructed to do so online which I did. I placed specific instructions on the form to leave with the receptionist after being let into the condo. No where on the order form does it say that delivery has to be to the recipient, only that the person has to be 21 years of age or older. My friends were not home and did not respond to the message. Bev Mart would not leave with the of age receptionist. They canceled the order kept the tip, apparently are charging me a return fee and told me at some point I would receive partial refund?! It was the owner that I spoke on the phone was nothing short of rude and condescending, no aloha there. Heard he bought a second store. If you are looking for customer service (could have given my business to national company but wanted to keep it local) and a little kindness Bev Mart is NOT your place.
**This is in response to the professional owner's response (because I also call my customers liars!) My apologies, I read the text incorrectly. It reads, "you will be charged the delivery fee and the return fee" (which I have no idea how much the return fee is). Here's an idea ,check the ID of the vetted receptionist at the upscale condominium complex, just a thought!!!! I also don't know when "sometime" is for the refund, but hey I guess they'll get to it when they get to...

Oh, lemme tell you, I had the worst experience at Bev Mart, eh? Soon as I stepped in, one of the workers yelled at me like I was some kinda thief! "Leave your purse at the counter!" she said. Can you believe that? My little crossbody purse, not like I was hiding a whole suitcase or something!
I never been treated so rude in my life. I was just tryin’ to pick up the order my friend placed online. I showed them my ID and the confirmation email, but they still refused to hand it over. Not only that, they went and canceled my friend’s order that she already paid for! Insult to injury, I tell you!
When my friend called to find out what happened, they yelled at her too! Ayo, what kind of customer service is that? If you want to save yourself from being insulted, do yourself a favor and avoid Bev Mart, yeah? Plenty other places on the island with good vibes and selection. Just take a little look around before you go here. And check their replies to other reviews; you can see how they really treat their...
