I had a bizarre experience at this store yesterday. Upon arrival, I was immediately approached by a male sales associate wearing a statement necklace who asked where I was from. I responded, “Here,” to which he pressed, “Oh, like you grew up here?” I clarified that I hadn’t, adding that very few people are actually from here. He then told me that he was from here and went to high school locally, and asked how long I had lived here. When I said four years, he laughed and said I shouldn’t claim to be “from here.”

The interaction was awkward and left me wondering what exactly the goal was. Was this supposed to be a friendly conversation or a gatekeeping quiz? He seemed to back off once my friend mentioned that his grandfather had built a cabin down Granite Creek, as if that gave us some kind of local credibility.

The whole thing felt like some strange form of social vetting rather than a welcoming customer interaction. Whatever kind of weird local-status game this associate is playing, it’s off-putting and unprofessional. I came in to browse and shop, not to justify my place in...

I had the most amazing experience at this store. I’ve never been treated better in my life!! I came with a bunch of women all whom had real fur coats and I really wanted to get one. Sarkes helped me try on probably 30 coats. He put them on me and hung them back up for me. I told him that I had a budget and I was worried I couldn’t afford most of the things. He told me not to worry and we would find something. I ended up liking 2 but couldn’t afford both. While I was deciding which one I wanted he brought the price down for me so I was able to get both!!! I’m in love with both of my jackets and I am still over the moon with happiness that he was so sweet and helpful. I’m gonna feel like a million bucks every time I wear my new jackets. HORRIBLE! First thing, walking through the door with my 8 month old baby and husband, my husband says hi very loudly and was completely ignored, not even a smile. We felt we were getting judged right away…I was wearing a real fur coat, but happen to ask the employee what kind of fur she thought it was..she said it was muskrat, meaning a cheap fur, which I know it is not muskrat. When leaving the store she made a remark, “Stay warm in your coat”. As someone who has owned a business I was in shock that someone would treat customers this way, customer service is very important. She did not ask if we needed help once, I was ready to spend quite a bit of money in there today, I feel sad for the owners that they have someone working for them like this.
