Tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly with lots of interesting information to share. I'm leaving a 2-star review for two reasons: the cost and poor communication about tour schedule.
The tour costs about $65 USD if you buy your tickets on the bus (vs $45 USD online)—a pretty significant difference, especially if you're not American and currency conversion is involved. We were already loaded on the bus before we found out the price.
The tours stop running at 2 PM on weekdays. We had paid for our tickets before this information was communicated to us by the ticket seller and ended up not having enough time to complete the tour, which was very frustrating given the high price tag. This information is listed on the website, but in small print located at the bottom of the page—easy to miss.
Even if someone were to get on the first tour at 9 AM, this doesn't leave you much time to hop off/on to explore. There is lots to see and there is no way to stop and explore more than one spot (two if you're quick about it) if you want to complete the entire route before 2PM.
Our group of 4 was quite disappointed at spending so much money and not even being able to complete the tour. We only hopped off once to grab lunch and were still unable to finish the tour. The tour guides had lots of cool information to share and it would have been great to finish the entire route.
Final note: The tour guides are serious about not having conversations amongst yourselves while they're driving. I quite appreciated this because I wanted to listen to the tour guide, but if you're not as interested in the tour guide's narration and would prefer to converse with your group, this isn't the tour for you.
Update: They refunded our tickets with no issues. I updated to 3 stars to reflect their friendly and proactive...
Read moreWe had a great experience over 2 days on this tour. We took the tour all the way through once on the first day and used it as transportation during the second day. The tour was extensive and the tour guides were great (more details below). The bus was very clean and fairly comfortable. The seats were a little bit small - as a plus size person, I really couldn't fit into one seat. But there were only a couple of times where the trolley was so full that we had to sit on one bench. Other than that, we were able to spread out to separate benches which was comfortable. Please note that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING on the bus. It is an open air bus but there isn't a lot of air moving when the bus is stopped in traffic or at stops so it did get uncomfortably hot at times. So be prepared for that. It's not an inexpensive tour so it seems like it would be fairly reasonable to have cold water available for passengers on the trolley. That would be my best recommendation for comfort of passengers.
Collum was our conductor on Day 1 and he was awesome. Very funny and knowledgeable. On day 2, we had a few different conductors but the best one was Debbie! She was a total sweetheart and had some unique information to share. She actually had something that I would recommend the tour company do on a larger scale. Because it was 100 degrees and sunny that day in Nashville, Debbie had small bottles of water that she was giving out at no charge. We were the last tour of the day so she was down to the last few but I think that would be a great thing for the tour company to do on a larger scale - especially on such a hot day.
Overall, an excellent tour of the Nashville area. Would...
Read moreI guess our first mistake was booking with the Gaylord. The Information given to us was incorrect as far as stops and as far as getting a return trip to the Gaylord from downtown Nashville. We were told to uber to the first stop in Nashville from the hotel, so we did. Later in the day, after calling the trolley customer service to see what stops were still available we were told stops 11, 12, and 13 were still available. Once we got to 13 (after walking as fast as possibly from the “clock” with 2 small children) it was 5:43 and we called customer service again to check in. We were told by the trolley rep that they could not verify where the driver was or if the driver had passed (after being told by a previous rep 15 -20 mins earlier that these stops had not been passed) But that a driver should pass by 5:45. We waited just after 6 and no driver drove through the last stop, the capital view. We even verified with the rep to make sure we were at the correct stop and we were. We ended up getting a uber back to the hotel.
The driver that we did have was Trey and he was awesome. (Thank you Trey! My kids are still singing that Dolly P song!) It was just not too great of an experience to be told 3 different things by 3 different sources. We’ve done the trolley rides in other states and we’ve loved them, but our experience in Nashville just...
