I had a decent stay. First, the parking is quite expensive. I paid $40 just to park overnight to sleep. Upon arriving, it took 10-15 minutes to check in. There was one person working and multiple customers needing things from the staff member. The hotel lobby smelled off in my opinion. It was a mix between body odor and fragrance. The hotel looked nice and was in a great spot, only blocks away from plenty of things to do. I was only here for business for a night, so didn’t do anything. After receiving my pin, I went up to my room. The room was nice and spacious with most everything you could need, large glass windows to see out of, and great views of the city. The bed was very comfortable, as well as the whole room. There were several things that disappointed me to where I wondered how this was considered a four star place. First, the shower was awful. The shower head sprayed outward and lightly to where I could hardly get water on myself. To add in, the tub didn’t drain l, so I was standing in water to my ankles. Fortunately, the shower head hardly sprayed, so there wasn’t much water or it would have overflowed. The second thing that was aggravating was the TV. It was a nice TV and was set up to where there were plenty of streaming apps. The only problem was I’m guessing the connection. It would play for a few minutes then stop. So I basically just turned it off and left it off. The final issue is the A/C. I had set it to 66 before bed, because I sleep with it cold. I woke up all night hot kicking the covers off. I didn’t think much of it until I woke up the next morning and seen that it had reset itself back to 85 degrees and there was no circulation all night. Not sure what’s going on there, but that’s not a good thing. Overall, for the price that I paid being on a business trip, the value was good and the room was enjoyable and relaxing despite the negatives. I would consider staying again. I would add in that the hotel is very noisy. I was on the 21st floor and still heard all of the music, sirens, horns, hollering...
Read moreIf you can find a bargain as we did, I can't imagine anyplace close to as good, especially during hot seasons. Pricing is discounted early in the week. The pool has a roped off lap lane, and the hot tub and grills are nice, as are the shuffleboard- and pool tables. There’s an bar open on weekends adjacent to the pool. The only ice available is the amount your freezer can generate – about half a bucket overnight. There's a liquor store around the corner so I suppose you could find a bag and keep it in the freezer. Neither of the two ice makers were turned on when we arrived, so we had no ice.
Yes, two. On the third floor we were awoke at 5:30 by a sound we could only describe as Jeff Dahmer carving someone with a power tool. It was intermittent and went on for a half hour. No one responded to our phone call requesting service. Later the front desk offered to swap our room with some reluctance, but they made it right. A manager and maintenance staff visited the room and tried hard to investigate, to no avail. It was probably some bit of HVAC temporarily run amok, or sunspots. Probably not Dahmer.
We stayed in City View Suites – on the 3rd floor our view was obscured by buildings, but the 9th floor view was impressive. The suites are massive with a kitchen ready for cooking and nice patio space. Watch out for decaf bombs -- one morning we found a ratio of 5:0 next to the knock-off keurig that makes just-ok coffee. Our bath sink drained slowly, a problem that went unfixed overnight after we reported the problem. Key codes are ridiculously long and at first frustrating. Early check-in may be available by 2pm, and you can pay for earlier – get there early in any case or plan to wait for an elevator. The building was designed for apartments -- half the rooms are still occupied by residents – so the three elevators were never intended to service a bolus of hotel patrons at 4pm. Everything wrong with this place is fixable. There is...
Read moreWe stayed here in July for the Coldplay concert. We picked this location due to the proximity to the stadium - we were able to walk to the concert in about 10 minutes plus we were 2 blocks or less from Broadway and many of the other restaurants and activities we wanted to do. Overall, the room was great - comfortable bed and well appointed. However, check in and some other items were disappointing and confusing. Check in isn't till 4 which is pretty late in my opinion. We did not receive a text message saying our room was ready so we had to wait in a long line in the lobby. There were many other people in the same position as us. There was one gentleman working who was doing his best to accommodate everyone and figure out the issues. There really needed to be more than just him. I noticed that there were more staff members at the front desk the day after we checked in and the day we checked out. The person working was able to get us a room once we talked to him which was great and we appreciated him doing that but others were not in the same position. We also received confusing information from the hotel. Example: we were told that no beach towels were available for use at the pool and to bring out own. There in fact are beach towels for guest use. We also received an email from the hotel tell saying we needed to clean the room in order to avoid a cleaning fee. We asked at the front desk what we needed to do and were told to ignore that email and that we didn't need to clean it. So overall that worked out for us but it was confusing on our end. The pool area is really nice and we took advantage of it and the hot tub. However, the pool really needed to be cleaned. There were leaves and debris at the bottom of the pool and floating in it. It was mainly concentrated at one end so we were able to avoid it. Overall, the location is great and the room was really nice. But it wasn't the...
