Visiting The Edge at Hudson Yards is a thrilling and unforgettable experience, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of New York City from the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere. Suspended 1,131 feet above the ground, The Edge provides a unique, adrenaline-pumping perspective of the city’s skyline that’s unlike any other observation deck in Manhattan.
The journey begins with a sleek, futuristic elevator ride that whisks you to the 100th floor in under a minute. As the doors open, you’re immediately greeted by floor-to-ceiling glass walls that showcase panoramic views of iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, and even as far as New Jersey on clear days. The most exhilarating feature is the glass floor section, where you can look directly down to the streets below—an experience that’s both thrilling and slightly vertigo-inducing.
Stepping onto the triangular-shaped outdoor deck, you can walk to the angled glass walls that lean outward, giving you the sensation of floating above the city. The skyline steps offer elevated seating where you can relax while soaking in the incredible views, making it a perfect spot for photos or simply to take in the grandeur of the city from above. For the ultimate daredevils, City Climb, an optional experience, allows you to scale the outside of the building for an even more heart-pounding adventure.
The Edge is particularly stunning at sunset, when the city is bathed in golden hues, and the transition into twilight reveals the sparkling lights of Manhattan. The attached bar and café provide refreshments, allowing visitors to sip a cocktail while gazing out over the skyline.
To make the most of your visit, I recommend booking tickets in advance, especially for sunset times, as they tend to sell out quickly. Arriving early gives you time to explore the surrounding Hudson Yards development, including The Vessel and the Shops at Hudson Yards.
Whether you’re a local looking for a new perspective or a visitor eager to see the city from new heights, The Edge offers an unparalleled and exhilarating view of New York City that will...
Read moreDefinitely go check out the Gift shop for Edge NYC Observation Deck!
This gift shop is open to the public and you don't have to purchase an Edge ticket to shop here. They have T-shirts, cups, magnets etc with all of the Hudson Yards buildings and logos. You can get items here for the Edge, The Vessel, the Hudson Yards Skyline, and other New York City buildings.
You can also get housewares and bar items, mostly with a copper or metallic aesthetic. Many of the items also have either the observation deck, or the vessel on them.
They have some cute books about NYC, seasonal items like Christmas ornaments, winter accessories, and home bar additions.
Prices are reasonable for NYC gift shops, think $5 to $10 keychains, $20 cups, $30 shirts and nice quality brands like Corkcicle.
My favorite items for purchase were actually vintage Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 bags that had been customized with Hudson yards design, ranging from $2000-$2500. They're in a glass case with no price tag but never hurts to ask .
Next door to this gift shop is the entrance to the Observation Deck which...
Read moreThis was one of the most exhilarating adventures that I've ever been on, to be honest. Words simply won't do it justice, believe me, especially if you are a thrill seeker & lover of heights! This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. This monumental sky deck sits 1,100 ft. above street level, making it the highest observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. It was a chilly night in December, there was actually snow on the deck, but the view was so magnificent, that I actually became breathless. All at once forgetting the cold air, gazing upon the radiance of NYC dazzling in all her glory! This night I fell in love with NYC all over again. We are compelled to return in the summer time to do the SkyScraping Adventure that they offer as well. I can't wait to be like spiderman hanging off ...
