Will never come back here! I asked for a TRIM and specifically said 1-1.5inches off. Reina started cutting and cutting and ended up cutting off 3+ inches! Every time I look in the mirror I want to cry. I asked for some layers and she gave me SUPER choppy, uneven and chunky layers. I have very thick hair and it looks HORRIBLE. It's like a wolf cut. Half of my hair is at my chin length and half is 3-4 inches longer. No finesse. She kept saying at the end that she "kept the length" and technically my hair is still longer in the back but I have these very very short layers for about 50% of my hair. I want them to make it right obviously, but it's impossible since most of my hair was chopped off. It's going to take months to grow up. Very upset. Would not recommend. Maybe they are different for perms and color, but she clearly did not do what I asked for a TRIM. I've honestly never been angrier at a haircut. In the before and after you can see how much length she took off - does that look like 1 inch?!
I've also been to other high end Asian hair salons in the city and I've always been asked how I normally style my hair, do I want a style that needs to be blow dried every day, etc. Reina only asked me how I part my hair? As a new customer, I thought they would do more of an intake on my hair preferences? There was none of that tailored customer service, she just started hacking away at my hair.
I wanted to try harueh because it's closer to me than my previous salon which was in SoHo, but I am traumatized by this experience.
Worst hair experience of my life. They clearly only know how to cut thin, silky asian hair and not asian hair of other textures (wavy, thick, etc). They don't listen to what the client wants, the stylist only cut whatever she felt like she thought "looked good". At the end of the appointment she kept trying to convince me that my hair "looked good" which was REALLY annoying because it did NOT look good to me. My shortest layers are now only inches long. My chest length hair is now at my chin. I wouldn't have this haircut even if they gave me $1,000. RUN AWAY from this salon. Reina also didn't realize I could understand Korean and the whole appointment she was talking with her co-worker about how hungry she was and how she couldn't wait for dinner. Overall, a super unprofessional stylist (in terms of skill level and client relationship). Do NOT even consider coming here. I am not even sure how they are so highly rated on Yelp / so recommended by asians in the city. They don't know what they're doing if they can't do something simple...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going here for my haircuts with Jackie and they have always been the best haircuts Iāve had. But I naively believed that their other staff members were at similar caliber. Unfortunately I was wrong. I went to Kay for a haircut and balayage color. I showed her a video of the hair color I wanted and even asked her if she is confident she was able to deliver. Instead, she completely ruined my hair. At the time, I had a blonde balayage & my regular hair colorist from another salon was booked. I wanted to transition into chocolate brown with lighter highlights. Instead, she over processed my hair, dyed my hair to nearly my natural black hair color with purple, grey streaks. The haircut was also subpar and ruined Jackieās layers from last month. She kept reassuring me that with a few washes, my hair would get lighter. Iāve gotten my hair dyed for 6 years straight now and have NEVER had this happen to me and my hair has never been over processed or brittle afterwards. I will never use her ever again. She texted me after my appointment to reassure me again that my hair will be the color I asked for after a few washes & she would be happy to fix it if itās still not to my liking after. A few washes later, I still have close to my black hair color, my hair is still over processed and brittle with random purple, grey color strands. She did such an absolutely amateur, horrible job that I naturally do not trust going back to her to fix it. I will stick to my regular hair stylist from now on. Iām so shocked at how badly she did. Please do not get your hair color done with Kay. Iām not sure if all the other ladies are like this, but make sure you look at the common themes of low rating - they all mention to not get your hair color here. I ignorantly didnāt read them before booking this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going to harueh for about 2 years now and have really loved it but this year, Iāve noticed things have been going downhill. I didnāt love the last haircut I got back in Jan but returned today because Iāve only had good experiences. However, I definitely feel a bit cheated after today and wonāt be returning again. I asked for highlights/balayage but didnāt want it to be overly bright so I asked for anything thatās not completely bright yellow or white. I showed a few pictures of the kind of hair I wanted (2nd pic) but unfortunately my hair looks like itās just dyed a solid block of brown (1st pic). Also the roots of my hair are black and the rest is brown which frankly makes it look like a bad dye job. The hair stylist gave me a discount and the total came out to $470. They also never told me in the two confirmation calls they gave me but itās now a CASH only salon. They always took card for the last multiple visits I made so this was a surprise and they charged me an extra ~$20 for using a card/they didnāt take debit either. They could have at least told me before my visit that they needed me to bring half a grand in cash. Who carries that much cash on them anyways? It really disappoints me that Harueh has gone down the drain like this. This was my go-to salon and I just donāt like that theyāve become the kind of business that gives sub par service and adds miscellaneous charges to increase the price of their service at checkout. The whole experience was really disappointing and misleading. I gave two stars instead of one because of all the past positive experiences Iāve had prior to my...
