LAV Nails & More Russian Manicure — Local services in New York

On the technique and attention to detail, definitely believe the hype. They are so meticulous and thorough, plan for extra time than you think for the service. On that alone they would be a 5/5.

However, the service and communication needs improvement. Both times I’ve come here, I’ve walked out without the actual color I wanted.

The first, I was very clear that I wanted a red dark burgundy. They show me on the swatch the right color, perfect. About when they’re halfway through finishing the color, I realize it’s looking purple. When I get outside in natural light, it is in fact a dark purple. Fine, maybe this was one me, maybe the swatch was more purple than red and I just didn’t pick up on it.

Come back a second time and I pick out a light pink. Again, they are applying the color when I notice it’s looking way more peach than what is shown on the swatch. I ask her to bring the swatch back over and I show my nail and the swatch side by side and I say - this is not the same color, what happened. And she says, it is the same color. I press her again and she finally says, well it’s because you have extensions so it’s not going to be the same color. Why would you not just say that? If that looks light pink and it’s looking peach when you’re applying, why would you not check in with the customer and say “hey because of your extensions this color is looking a little different than what you saw on the swatch. Are you sure this is what you want?”. By time point, she’s already done a few nails and I feel bad so I don’t want to ask her to re-do. It’s also very apparent that she knew this is not the color I wanted since she first tried to convince me it was and then relented that yes it didn’t look like the swatch.

Again, the communication is not it particularly for how much you’re paying for the service. I recognize my own culpability in this for not keeping a closer eye from the start but the staff needs to work on their consultation and...
