I had the pleasure of visiting Tartufo Osteria on their grand opening day, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish!
We were welcomed with a fresh, fragrant focaccia served as a welcome bread. Light, and baked to golden perfection, it was topped with aromatic rosemary — a simple but perfect way to begin the meal.
For our appetizer, we ordered the Fruittura Mista. The calamari and shrimp were incredibly fresh, cooked just right, and had the perfect crispy texture without feeling greasy. Every bite was light, flavorful, and absolutely satisfying.
We also shared a classic Margherita pizza, and it was fantastic! The pizza sauce was vibrant and full of fresh tomato flavor, the cheese was fragrant, and the crispy dough had just the right amount of chew. One of the reasons the pizza tastes so authentic is because Tartufo Osteria uses a special pizza oven imported directly from Italy, which gives the crust a beautiful texture and traditional flavor that you can truly taste in every bite.
For our entrees, we enjoyed the Pappardelle al Tartufo and the Branzino. The homemade pasta was perfectly al dente, coated in a rich and aromatic pecorino fondue with freshly cracked black pepper — simple but unforgettable. The Branzino was fresh, flaky, and beautifully prepared, served with tender baby carrots that added a lovely touch of sweetness and texture to the dish.
To end the meal, we had their Tiramisu, and it was just as impressive — creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, with just the right hint of espresso.
The atmosphere at Tartufo Osteria was warm, cozy, and lively — you could feel the excitement of their grand opening. The service was attentive, friendly, and made the evening even more special.
Overall, Tartufo Osteria left a wonderful first impression. With authentic Italian flavors, fresh ingredients, a cozy atmosphere, and a true passion for quality (you can taste it in every bite!), it’s definitely a place I can’t wait to...
Read moreWe were visiting New York City and was going with family on the Circle Line Cruise. Looked online for restaurants near the pier and found this which is a 5 minute walk from the pier. We arrived before their opening time of 11:30AM they were still setting up but let us come in. They seated us even before everyone was there. We had a 10 people. The food was excellent. Some of the items we ate: Hand-made personal pizzas - they were delicious. They serve complementary "bread" which appears to be pizza crusts cut into small pieces, served with a dipping sauce, and it was also very good. Caesar Salad - fresh and tasty dressing. Appetizer Meatballs - 3 large meatballs, flavorful and not dense, in a wonderful marinara sauce (which is good for dipping in the small pieces of bread). Pastas were all delicious. I definitely will go here again when I'm back in NYC. No one had wine and we had a lot of sharing where, for example, 1 person ordered the Caesar salad and one ordered the Meatballs and they would share the dishes. There were 10 items ordered for 10 people, in NYC, in a nice sit-down Italian restaurant, and the bill with tax but before tip was $187 - that is less than $20 a person...IN NEW YORK CITY!!!! This was quite a value. No one left feeling hungry.
FYI - Pizzas range from $18-$25 and feed 1-2 people. For lunch, I'd guess the cost would run around $15-$30 per person. For dinner, if ordering a full meal (appetizer, main course and dessert), the price would probably range from $40-$70 before tax, tip and drinks, but for the quality of food and the friendly service, it's worth it.
Parking is not free, there is a parking garage located within a block or two of the restaurant.
I highly recommend...
Read moreA known place but not good food. The wine options are good but the overall food is not labelled well, quantity is not clear and poor English from servers.
I ordered a Salad with Tuna, I got a boiled tune (Probably whole can) and a plate full of baby tomatoes, cut in half, no other taste, did not notice any dressing.
I had to go back to my hotel and eat some sandwiches on the way. Overall, I am one of the most disappointed people, maybe it was the server's inability to understand. At the prices they charge and for a group of 12 people, they should have...
