What? Toys R Us has recently opened a branch of its famous toy stores on the 7th floor of Macy’s at Hearld Square. Of course it has a huge choice of toys to purchase, but it also has incorporated a play area into the store.
Where? On the 7th floor of Macy’s at Herald Square at 34th Street. It’s very well sign posted, so take the elevator and make sure to get off at the 7th floor!
When? Macy’s is generally open from 10am to 9pm with extended hours over the Christmas holidays. Check their website for opening times!
Cost? FREE!
Our Rating? 8/10. It’s so great to know there’s a store in NYC where you can shop great discounts, let your little one play, grab some McDonalds fries and change their diaper afterwards! It’s easy to kill an hour or so just letting the little one play in Toys R Us.
Anything else? Toys R Us occasionally have special events and giveaways. These are normally promoted on their Instagram so keep an eye out. Of course, you have all the amenities of Macy’s right there, so don’t be worried about not having a changing table available or getting hungry. If you happen to go over Christmas, be warned that it gets super busy in here. Oh, definitely a must if you’re little one is a Thomas the Tank fan!

Read moreIt will not live up to the nostalgia, I'm sorry to say. This Toys R Us is about the size of a Foot Locker, taking up maybe 1/8 of the 7th floor of Macy's. It's got areas focused on age and brand of toy, like Legos, Hot Wheels, Barbie - but it doesn't compete with the range of different toys that a true Toys R Us would have. The prices also aren't clear, a lot of items don't have prices, and the ones that do are confused by sale signs on the shelves. It was also widely crowded, with kids climbing on top of installations in a mini-playground, smearing play dough all over the place. The line to buy anything looked daunting enough to discourage anyone but the most committed.
All in all, it's a toy store inside Macy's. It something fun for the kids to do for 30 minutes in an otherwise busy...
Read moreOnce upon a time Toys "R" Us was anywhere and everywhere you looked! Kids from the 80's and 90's will remember the joy of seeing these big, colorful letters and smiling giraffe and you knew you were about to get something good! It's nice to see this chain making a comeback! I visited this location in the far off time of 2002 and was amazed at its size and selection! Visiting it again was like revisiting a childhood friend and was delighted to see the wonder and amazement in my kids eyes as they experienced it for the first time! If your in New York and are visiting Macy's, be sure to stop by this...
