Patty and I first learned about Barsky Diamonds in the Summer of 2020 during the pandemic, when we were shopping for an engagement ring. Patty had a very specific idea about the type of engagement ring and diamond arrangement that she wanted. We live out in Lancaster County PA., and because of the distance from Philly, we started our journey at the typical retail jewelers in the central PA. region. We quickly learned that there was not a lot of customization available to create the ring concept that my Wife was interested in. After visiting and discussing our wishes with five or six different retail jewelers in Central PA. and realizing that our choices were limited to the retail inventory at these locations, we made the difficult decision during the pandemic to go down to Philly to Jeweler’s Row to explore our options. We planned a visit and when we arrived, decided to start at one end of Jeweler’s Row and work our way to the other end visiting each Jeweler. We were looking for jewelers who were willing to listen to our ideas, answer our questions, and provide options that would get us close to the engagement ring concept that my Wife wanted. We are not jewelry or diamond experts, but we do our homework and certainly know in concept what we are looking for. After visiting each of the establishments on Jeweler’s Row and discussing what we were looking for with the Jewelers, our last stop was at Barsky’s Diamonds. We were given a warm friendly greeting by Jeffrey Barsky and his team. We discussed our concept with Jeffrey Barsky and he sat down with us to discuss what we were looking for. Jeffery was very customer-friendly, and we quickly realized that not only was he interested in helping us, but he and his team had the expertise and resources to fulfill our engagement ring concept. Once we worked through the ring design, we moved on to the diamond selection which could have been an intimidating area, but Jeffrey answered all of our questions and it seemed that no matter what we asked or presented, Barsky Diamonds had the resources and expertise to accomplish it. In the end, we went to our wedding that pandemic year with a beautiful diamond arrangement that was far beyond our expectations. During that original visit, we also picked out special wedding bands that again far surpassed our original expectations. Our experience in 2020 was so amazing that since that time four years ago, we have contacted Barsky’s for any of our jewelry plans. We have been back several times over the last four years. We do not even go to the local retail jewelers. We simply call Barsky’s to discuss what we are looking for, make arrangements to visit, and then plan a trip to Barsky’s in Philly. They customize jewelry, and they have a designer on staff who can create jewelry from a concept or modify an existing design. Just like the relationship we built with Jeffrey Barsky, we have also established a relationship with Nova, who is part of the Barsky team. Nova offers contemporary advice, backed by Barsky’s well-established and reputable jewelry organization. Her service is personalized, thoughtful, and on-point with your style. You will love working with her and any of the Barsky team. We visited Barsky’s just recently and Nova worked with us to customize a crawler earring and at the same time, she helped us research some other earrings. Jeffrey stopped by and he remembered us from 2020 and we chatted about those times and life in general. We left Barsky’s and Philly delighted, and we couldn’t stop talking about how the results of our trip were beyond our expectations. We are already planning our next trip to bring our daughter to look at a set of birthday earrings. There are so many choices of places to buy diamonds and fine jewelry. You can just shop retail, or you can build a relationship with Barsky’s, a jewelry establishment and team that has the depth, expertise, and resources needed to accomplish any of your fine jewelry needs from large to small. Thank...

If you change your mind A-LOT like me, you have come to the right review.
It's not easy shopping for an engagement ring. Like most women they like to be surprised, unfortunately, I do not like surprises .... for many reasons :) We started with Barsky back in 2009. Yes, you read that correctly. We come to their location probably two, or three times a year. Guess why? I change my ring constantly. I upgrade our diamonds and make changes to my jewelry pieces... CONSTANTLY! I am "that" person... I am more ashamed sometimes but if you are like me, and you LIKE changes.... then this place is for you!
When I say if you have something in mind, it can be executed. No matter the circumstances. When your rings need to be cleaned, enjoy the city while you wait. Walk around town.
I am not too proud to say this, but I have changed my engagement ring, wedding bands and rings ... more times than I can count. I mean that in a humbling way. The reason I explain this, is because Nathan has patience, knowledge, customer service and humbleness. It doesn't matter what type of changes I want, he ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS makes it happen.
09'- engagement ring 12' - changes to ring 16' - more changes to ring 17'- entire new setting kept princess diamond center stone 18' - added new band behind new setting 20' - upgraded center stone to round diamond 20' - added new band w/ upgraded stone 20'- added additional band w/ more diamonds
I would never go anywhere else. Nathan is the perfect person. It's hard finding that "perfect jeweler" ... you think you're being too picky? you change your mind too much? you want the bigger stone? you want the smaller stone?
Every change can be made at anytime. They will execute...
Read moreI bought an engagement ring after my buddy recommended Barsky (since he bought his there).
I'm very happy with the ring, the price, and the overall experience. Nate (Barsky - the owner) was awesome and patiently put up with my ocd. Without getting into all the details - I'm an engineer, so I tortured him beyond the 4 C's, asking for very specific crown/pavilion angles, table size, etc etc. He had to scour his suppliers until he found a stone that matched exactly what I wanted, and he purchased it without committing me to buy it before seeing it. He was very accommodating and also flexible with the price. I never take the time to write reviews - but here I really felt compelled.
Additional learnings: Unless you're rich, stick with color "I"; it still looks white and saves you $1-$2K, vs H/G. Put that money towards bigger size and GIA excellent cut - that's the real wow factor Don't bother with big stores at the mall (their markup was ~30% or higher) Check online sellers to get an idea for the bottom price range. Buying online though isn't a slam-dunk. Some things you don't notice in pics / 360 view - until you look at the stone in person; e.g. whether it looks milky bc of clouds; or if it has a brownish tint (no idea why GIA doesn't note that in certificates). To me, being able to see and buy in-person was worth the...
