Experience: Will Racially Profile you if you are picky - especially if you are Indian!!
My fiancée and I went to the store today. Started out great, but we soon realized that we would have a difficult time finding what we want because most of their jewelry was 14K which is fine. We discussed custom 18k design and for some styles it made sense and others it didn’t because of labor. However, we fell in love with this dainty thumb ring, but my fiancée was still iffy because it was 14K and the yellow tone would be off with the rest of my jewelry which he shared out loud with the jeweler.
The jeweler Moses I believe got annoyed by my fiancée fixation on 14k and passive aggressively racially profiles him by reminding my American born and raised husband that it’s not INDIA and that “this is how it what sells in America bro” without any prior context on the topic simply because he looked ethnic. The exact moment where my love for the dainty thumb ring went out the window! In fact, I wouldn’t buy anything from here anymore!!!
My gripe is that would he have done this to a picky white person - not really sure but bet he wouldn’t tbh. So the audacity is unreal … not to mention the man had an accent himself suggesting he too may have other origins - hypocrisy to its finest. It’s okay if you don’t have what we want we didn’t misbehave with you juts took your time to browse so the behavior is completely unwarranted. Would give ZERO stars if possible.
Also, credit where credit is due there was another guy really nice told us not to over spend on wedding rings and seemed nice - didn’t...
Read moreOk. This was supposed to be a weekend full of historic Philly adventures with my best friend. BUT I told her we had to stop at a place I saw on Tiktok, Jewlers Row. Here we are on a Sunday thinking it's retail, they should be open, nope. I was so disappointed until we stumbled upon 1 store that said they were opened, The Jeweler.
There was a couple outside on their phone and 3 others inside. We were buzzed in, and I was a kid in a candy store, and oh, so happy! Rami assisted me while the other gentleman juggled the busy store. Did I say it was busy? Yeah, for a Sunday, it sure was, but I think they got the memo... open on Sundays when the other stores are closed, lol, great retail strategy! Customer service was on point. I could hear the other gentleman asking questions to better help the couple find their wedding pieces, but they didn't seem to understand. They left the store a couple of times and returned with the same questions and receiving the same polite answers from the gentleman. Another couple came in also looking for rings.... I guess love was in the air that day.
I only purchased 2 rings on Sunday because I had to take my girlfriend to the airport. So, I told Rami I would be back the next day with my man, my pomeranian ;) Did I return? You betcha! AND I SHOPPED SOME MORE!!!!
Thank you Rami for the banter and your hospitality. I will be back to see you and purchase more beautiful pieces to add to my collection. Wishing you and your family...
Read moreI recently visited The Jeweler looking to treat myself. Beforehand, I stopped by the Golden Nugget, where I received a warm welcome and found a nice piece of jewelry at a reasonable price. I decided to shop around and compare prices, which led me to The Jeweler. Unfortunately, they had the same item at a significantly higher price. When I mentioned the price difference, the owner became extremely rude and unprofessional. I was taken aback by his reaction, especially since I was simply trying to make an informed decision. Despite other customers being present, I didn't feel comfortable continuing to shop there. Based on my experience, I would not recommend The Jeweler to anyone. The owner's behavior was unacceptable, and I expect more professionalism...
