Y Genesis 2 nail salon — Local services in Philadelphia

I had an upsetting experience during my recent visit to what used to be my go-to nail salon for years. On a cold mid-week day, I stopped in without an appointment, knowing from years of experience that they were unlikely to be busy. The staff kindly accepted me and asked me to sit. However, what followed was very unprofessional.

I witnessed a heated argument between two technicians, one of whom seemed to be a manager. They yelled back and forth in front of me, creating a very uncomfortable environment. After a few minutes, they asked me to leave, explaining that they had another client arriving in 30 minutes. Another client was also present, and she seemed just as uncomfortable as I was.

While I understand the situation, I felt disrespected and unvalued as a loyal, long-term client. They could have calmly communicated the issue instead of resorting to a public argument. Given my years of experience with this salon, I knew they were not particularly busy that day, which made the situation feel even more unnecessary.

Wanted to give a try since the salon was so close to my workplace. Created an appointment instead of walking in, and the nail tech was not too welcoming, not sure if it was an off day for her or what but the silence and the roughness of getting my nails done made me want to leave half way through.. I should have left and went somewhere else but I needed my nails done for a wedding. I asked her if the color I chose was gel and she mentioned it was but when she took the fan out to dry I was a little upset that it wasn’t what I asked for. Wasted time and energy on this place. Went in for a gel pedicure and nail gel refill. There was two younger girls and a woman, the older women took me. I was in an out of my pedicure before the other people who were there had their nails polished. She obviously did not want to do what she was doing. I even offered to pay for extra massage and she ignored me. My nail are uneven and look horrible.

I did not even want to have my refill done there so I only had the pedicure . I did something I never have done before which is not leave a tip. I will never go back there and I’m jealous of the people who had the two younger girls because they look like...
