Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral — Local services in San Francisco

Great orthodox church. There's something magical about walking down the street to go to liturgy while the giant bells are ringing. Then you are greeted by the sounds of the choir singing in the loft, the swinging of the incense censor, and an unparalleled, ancient worship experience. Many young families are in attendance. The priest sings the liturgy beautifully, and there is a lovely coffee hour after the service. Everyone is friendly, welcoming-- this is a good place to build community even if you do not live down the street. You can tell that this is a close knit community that has deep roots, but also is very welcoming to new families, young couples, students, and more. The church organizes retreats and is involved with serving the local community including local food kitchens, fire disaster relief, and more. There is a regular zoom bible study (during pandemic times), as well as community groups which gather on an ad hoc basis. All in all, a wonderful refuge and place to grow...
