We liked it here. Simple interior design. Nothing fancy, but homey. Importantly, clean - dining area and washroom too!
I thought this restaurant was operated by Chinese, so we only ordered Chinese food but not Japanese food. Even though the people might not be from the area where their dishes were famous of. They tasted like they were cooked at home, it hit the spot after traveling for a few days.
We had a cucumber salad served in a garlic sauce. Very garlicky - we liked it as it was refreshing and appetizing. It was slightly too salty. People who are on a low-sodium diet should try to ask them to go a bit easier on the salt.
We had a dan dan noodle. We enjoyed this as the pork apparently was not to be minced by machine but by hand. It was still in chunks. The sauce tasted what it should be - peanut, and a bit spicy. It was one of the better dan dan noodles that I have ever had in Canada. We were quite satisfied with it.
We had a Guangzhou braised beef brisket rice. The beef brisket was cut into small cubes, which was not what I expected. However, the sauce was as good as it should be, so no complaints.
Seatings were limited. When we arrived, we were put at a table for two right at the entrance to the pathway between the front and the washrooms at the back. All of a sudden, all the other customers were gone. Then when we were getting ready to leave, a big group came in and needed to take up all the tables. So we rushed out to give them more space for business.
Overall, we were happy that we had standard Chinese food in such a tourist area. Often, Chinese food in areas like this could be inauthentic and bad.
A pleasant surprise that they take cards. Prices were slightly more than expected, but not too bad in a...

Read moreArrived at this restaurant on April 17th at 8:10 pm. Due to the restaurant being small, we had to wait 25 minutes to get a table. Only 3 staff working and the restaurant was packed.
Finally placed our order at around 8:40 pm. My wife had the beef brisket noodles and I had the chicken noodles. I told the server not to put nori on my noodles as I am allergic. She even confirmed our order twice.
After waiting another 30 minutes for our food, guess what? There was nori in my soup. This exact same thing happened on our last visit. The guy (I think he's the owner) wanted to just take the nori out and serve the same bowl so I told him I'm allergic and they need to make a new bowl. Waited another 25 minutes and wouldn't you believe they PUT NORI AGAIN!!! So had to wait another 20 to 25 minutes for them to make a new bowl and finally get it right.
After all this, you would think the owner would at least offer some sort of discount to rectify their mistakes but nope I got charged full price.
Will not be returning...
