Two words - not worth it. (Sorry that’s three words)
Service -
first off, I called and made a booking. Then they said they don’t do reservation upon arrival. So did I talk to a ghost or something?
Second, there was a waitress keep pushing us on food but not knowing all the details. Doesn’t know how much the dish is, doesn’t know how big the dish is. And doesn’t give you personal space!
Food -
Minimum charge is 700/head. We were 3 people. Got a little bit of money to play with
Of course we ordered the crab roe noodle - 428. If you are not hungry, order for a mouthful for a taste. Carb roe sauce does not taste particular fresh, does it taste like fresh hairy crab at all. They suggest to serve with vinegar which I did try, basically the vinegar overpowered the sauce. Suggest not to do that
Apprêtiez combo with 3 sorts-
Average, you can get in any Shanghai restaurant. The price wasn’t on the menu , the waitress needed to ask, seems really fishy about not havent price on the menu.
Deep fried frog leg- It’s 88/leg. Generally I don’t eat them, but they did it very good. Very juicy and indeed a big one.
Then some side veggie and deep fried tofu...
We visited this long-established and once-famous restaurant in Hong Kong with high expectations, but unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing.
The biggest letdown was the attitude of the restaurant manager. She was extremely pushy, trying to hard-sell expensive dishes even after we had politely declined. To our surprise, she then claimed there was a minimum charge of HK$700 per person, which was never mentioned on the menu nor communicated to us beforehand. We are not even sure if such a charge is legally justifiable.
It was a regular weekday, and the restaurant was nearly empty—with only two other tables occupied. We simply wanted to try out the restaurant, not have a full meal, as none of us were particularly hungry. We requested smaller portions to sample different dishes, but the manager insisted that small portions were insufficient for our group of four and pressured us to order the large ones. In the end, some of the dishes were indeed too much, and we couldn’t finish them.
To make matters worse, the food quality was mediocre at best—certainly not worth the HK$700+ per person we were charged. The restaurant itself also felt old and poorly maintained, adding to the unpleasant experience.
It is truly disappointing that such a restaurant and manager still exist in Hong Kong. Experiences like this damage the city’s reputation, especially in the eyes of tourists. Even as locals, we will...
Read moreI really enjoyed my experience here and think people is a bit harsh on their reviews
Food quality is like 3 star Michelin, services also super good, attentive and friendly
I think for a restaurant like this we need to preserve, once it’s gone, hard to find same quality
I ordered crab meat noodles, pork belly (东坡肉) and veggie, amazing! The two of us are super full and satisfied.
You don’t get this kinda experience and quality...
