I looked up a place for breakfast before arriving, knowing I would have time to kill before checking into my spot. I saw Brunch De Salento had amazing reviews so I made it my first stop and I’m sooo grateful I did. I was immediately greeted by the wonderful staff that made me feel super welcomed and at ease. The menu is huge, something for everyone. They roast their coffee right there and the place smells amazing. Service is fast. Food is good. They take card. They also sell tons of snacks, hiking necessities, and pack-lunches for your travels/hikes ($3). Lots of travelers come through here so it feels relatable. Wifi is good and upstairs you can chill (no food served there). Javier is the manager (it seems) and greets everyone with his local wisdom. He helped me and many other travelers with anything they needed, including maps, advice, suggestions and just plain old good vibes. Whole staff is amazing. Very grateful for this place. It was my first and last meal in Salento. I also came for a packed lunch, and if you bring in the note they include inside, they’ll give you a free orange juice. I went back for some OJ and help for my next bus route from Javier.

Great place to go for breakfast before your hike in the Valle de Cocora. We arrived a little after they opened at 6am and there were several hiking groups of foreigners getting breakfast in preparation. The business knows their audence well and the menu had American style breakfasts with a twist of adding energy for the hike, like peanut butter on the pancakes. The food was good and the restaurant looks like a friendly community-oriented hostel, keeping with the young hiking vibe. Everything was reasonably priced and the waiter was speaking very good English with the other tables. The restaurant offers pack lunches to take with you to eat during the hike (or if you have a long bus ride ahead of you) and we ordered a couple. They came with a sandwich, granola, banana, among other foods, and was tasty and super convienent for the trek. They also put in an inspiring message keeping with the vibe. I fully recommend Brunch or Salento as a one-stop restaurant for breakfast and lunch if you are doing the Valle de Cocora hike.

This cafe/shop has a fantastic concept. We got 3 packed lunches to take with us on our bus from Salento to Medellin. For 25000 COP each, we got a sandwich, juice, 1/2 brownie, fruit bar, banana, crackers, granola and a little tub of peanut butter. They have thought of everything - each pack includes napkins, little sauces etc - it is so thoughtful and convenient! The sandwiches were delicious (we tried PB&J and chicken and cheese) and the brownie amazing. You can choose to upgrade your sandwich to a bagel for 4000 COP extra. I would highly recommend getting a packed lunch from here (it even comes in a cute little bag with a note!) as it will make your day so much easier and is great value for money. It is also conveniently very close to the Terminal de Bus of Salento. I wish we had gone here to dine in also, I’ll have to save that for another trip! Also as soon as we came into the shop, we were greeted warmly by the staff and within 10 mins we each had our own little lunch!

I definitely recommend checking out Brunch when you are in Salento! We ended up going here at least three times during the week we were in Salento, as well as taking their packed lunches with us on our tour of La Carbonara. All four of us each enjoyed all of the food - I would definitely recommend their tuna melt if you are feeling like eating lunch. There is also a coffee roasting class that takes place every morning if you are interested; you'd have to confirm the time but I think it starts at something like 7AM and you don't have to register in advance. They have a nice mix of breakfast and lunch, smoothies and barista drinks, and the have English menus available if needed.

Everyone who works there gave us so much time and patience in ordering and paying, and it was so great to have these guys as a go-to option when my parents visited us in Salento. The owner also helped get us in touch with a guide for an excursion, recommending La Carbonara, a day tour to see the wax palms that isn't Valle de Cocora. They ended up doing the tour just in the jeep for us when normally it is a bike tour. From the photos in the slideshow on the wall, it looks like they have information on a lot of different tours.

The space is really welcoming, with messages written on the walls by travelers from all over the world. There are tables of different sizes and personalities, and the upstairs is a comfortable loft with various places to sit and enjoy being in Salento, being in Colombia......

A bit Disappointing The service wasn’t friendly. They were slowly and with not much interest. the food just standard.

I ordered the burrito, it was a big portion but it wasn’t tasty at all. It only tasted spicy. It was just a mix of beans and rice in a “tomato sauce” altogether. You weren’t able to identify any flavors. Just spiciness of chili which overtook all the rest. Not good at all. My partner had the chili burger. Which at first sight looked a bit disgusting cause it had chili “con” carne all over the burger. The chili wasn’t good and the meat patty didn’t look/tasted like quality meat. After ordering the burger only with cheddar, they brought it anyway with the mix of cheeses of the house. The only good thing about the dish were the homemade fries, they were really tasty. Still not worth for the price though.

In resume, a chic restaurant with nice deco but with a bit overpriced food with a bad price/quality ratio.

Maybe we just chose the wrong dishes at the wrong day. Not worth another try though.

Edit to Aswer the Owner text: Nobody complain about the size of the food. I did say it was big, just not tasty. Maybe instead of looking to the cameras you should be there to check what really happened. Your waiter came to bring the menu the first time, the second time, to bring a coffee sample since we were interested in buying coffee there. ( coffe wasn’t good at all, so we didn’t even touched it.), after that, the service was nonexistent until we...
