I looked up a place for breakfast before arriving, knowing I would have time to kill before checking into my spot. I saw Brunch De Salento had amazing reviews so I made it my first stop and I’m sooo grateful I did. I was immediately greeted by the wonderful staff that made me feel super welcomed and at ease. The menu is huge, something for everyone. They roast their coffee right there and the place smells amazing. Service is fast. Food is good. They take card. They also sell tons of snacks, hiking necessities, and pack-lunches for your travels/hikes ($3). Lots of travelers come through here so it feels relatable. Wifi is good and upstairs you can chill (no food served there). Javier is the manager (it seems) and greets everyone with his local wisdom. He helped me and many other travelers with anything they needed, including maps, advice, suggestions and just plain old good vibes. Whole staff is amazing. Very grateful for this place. It was my first and last meal in Salento. I also came for a packed lunch, and if you bring in the note they include inside, they’ll give you a free orange juice. I went back for some OJ and help for my next bus route from Javier.

This cafe/shop has a fantastic concept. We got 3 packed lunches to take with us on our bus from Salento to Medellin. For 25000 COP each, we got a sandwich, juice, 1/2 brownie, fruit bar, banana, crackers, granola and a little tub of peanut butter. They have thought of everything - each pack includes napkins, little sauces etc - it is so thoughtful and convenient! The sandwiches were delicious (we tried PB&J and chicken and cheese) and the brownie amazing. You can choose to upgrade your sandwich to a bagel for 4000 COP extra. I would highly recommend getting a packed lunch from here (it even comes in a cute little bag with a note!) as it will make your day so much easier and is great value for money. It is also conveniently very close to the Terminal de Bus of Salento. I wish we had gone here to dine in also, I’ll have to save that for another trip! Also as soon as we came into the shop, we were greeted warmly by the staff and within 10 mins we each had our own little lunch!

We were recommended this place by our hostess as they open at 6 am - perfect for early arrivals with the bus. We LOVED the food and atmosphere. Portions are big and there is lots to choose from on the menu. If you don’t want a big portion, you can simply tell the waiter. The staff is so kind, service is 10/10 and Jeff told us about the area and what to see on a map. He gave us lots of great tips. We ate all our meals here and bought the lunch pack for our bus ride on our last day. What a great concept btw! You get everything you need in a small bag for lunch at such an affordable price. We wish more places would do this. Jeff is so kind and made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped into the restaurant. We hope to come back one day. Try their milkshakes!!! Choco banana is the best I’ve ever had and their brownies with ice cream are incredible!!! We were surprised at how much of the food is homemade. Even their peanut butter, yoghurt and granola is freshly made.

Great backpacker style, giant portion, greasy hangover food. Breakfast burritos, famous potatoes, and lots of other choices. You can write on the walls, and read what other people have written as you chow. Coffee was better than expected. Again, giant portions and a chill vibe. Edit: came here for dinner a couple days later, whoa. They make some tasty burgers, and the fries were possibly the best I’ve had in 7 months of Latin America. Double fried and crispy, and the Belgium I’m satin approved (Belgians invented fries btw). The portions are huge and we actually split a burger and were still stuffed. I got the peanut butter brownie milkshake, super thick, creamy, peanut buttery goodness with chunks of brownie. The milkshake was way too much, but it was damn delicious. This is a great spot for some elevated US diner style food. I’d highly recommend splitting dishes unless you want extras for the next day (which we did and was great).

I love this place! The brilliant concept that they have created for traveller and tourist is genius. The breakfast and brunch was delicious American style, with a unique coffee blend on offer daily. Their best feature is the “packed lunch” perfect for all of the tourists planning to hike the cocora hike, as there is no real food offering during the hike and the hike can take up to 5 hours, it’s a brilliant concept! You can also rent gum boots and buy ponchos (which during wet season is great if you don’t want to destroy your shoes). I just love when a business shows initiative and caters to the tourist needs of the area. My only negative is that it’s not advertised more, we only found out about this place through word of mouth and during the hike, but decided to check it out for breakfast the next day and it didn’t disappoint.

Literally obsessed with this place and am so sad that I didn't know about it sooner! I popped in for something on my way to the bus terminal to head to Medellín but wish I had discovered it earlier in my stay. They do vegan and veggie packed lunches for hikes/long buses, I got a sarnie, brownie, curry pot, crackers and water for not a lot of money. The guys working there were so polite and helpful, I wasn't sure if I had time to get breakfast as well as grab the lunch so they advised me on what would be the quickest food to prepare etc which was nice. I ended up just getting a vegan milkshake, which was also insanely tasty but so so thick. They were honest too, advising on portion sizes and telling me when it would be way too much food, etc. Would definitely recommend this spot!
