Charged us 30CZK for 3 empty plates!! Impolite waitress. Though the fried mushroom was good taste, we will never come again. When stepped into the restaurant, the waitress put her hand on my mother's back and kind of push her to the table with an impolite tone. When having the bill, we found there are 30CZK charged, and we politely asked the waiter what was the charge for, he said it was the 3 empty plates for sharing the food. We asked him if it was a traditional charge of Czech restaurant as we have never been charged for empty plates/sharing spoons/forks/etc in other countries and we were curious why he didn't inform us the charge when giving us the 3 empty plates. He murmured a few words in impolite tone and walked away. We paid for it anyway and with tips.
Is it that other customer will be charged for empty plates too? And won't be informed the charge when it is not a general standard? I confirmed in later days when dining in other Czech restaurants, nothing would be charged for empty plates for sharing food.
Not sure the motive of the waiter, but if it really need to charge, it should inform the customer beforehand. Is it about dishonesty? Last but not least, 30CZK for 3 empty plates are not worth and...
Read moreTorn as I'd like to give Pension Na Louzi a better review because the hotel is so quaint but in actuality, the hotel isn't too comfortable if you are over 5'8" tall. In the old, historic part of Cesky Krumlov, the hotel looks like you've stepped back in time. There is no lobby, just a window where you pick up your key then head up the steep stairs - there is no elevator to your room. Rooms are small but still have enough room for a desk, chairs, and wardrobe. But the ceilings are low and the beds are not big, plus they have foot boards. So if you are tall, you constantly bump your head on the lighting fixtures and you don't really fit into the beds. But so charming! All old, wood furnishings but with modern, simple baths. But after a few hours, always ducking down and bumping into things ceases to be fun. Also, if it is hot out, there is no air conditioning and no fans in the rooms. So take care when booking and be sure this is the place for you. There is a restaurant on the ground floor with decent food. Actually ended up back here for lunch and was surprised at the tender, stewed pork that was delicious. The owner is surly and not very nice so don't expect him to fawn...
