Pivovar U Medvídků is an absolute gem in the heart of Prague, offering an authentic and rich Czech culinary experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a cozy, traditional setting that perfectly reflects the local culture. The service was outstanding, and special thanks go to Sabina, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made our visit memorable with her warm hospitality. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to explore the soul of Czech cuisine. We Tried: „Medvědí tlapky“ (Topinky s pikantní masovou směsí a sýrem) A perfect starter to awaken your appetite — these crispy garlic-toasted rye breads were generously topped with a spicy meat mixture and melted cheese. The combination of the crunchy texture with the rich, flavorful meat was simply irresistible. It’s a hearty and rustic dish that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. ⸻ Konfitované kachní stehno (Duck leg confit with a variety of dumplings, red and white cabbage) This traditional Czech duck dish was a standout. The duck leg was slow-cooked to perfection — tender, juicy on the inside with a beautifully crisped skin. Served with a trio of classic Czech dumplings and both red and white braised cabbage, this dish was balanced, flavorful, and deeply comforting. A true taste of Bohemian tradition. ⸻ Hovězí svíčková na smetaně (Beef sirloin in creamy sauce with bread dumplings and cranberries) An iconic Czech dish done right. The beef was incredibly tender, bathed in a rich, smooth cream sauce infused with root vegetables and a touch of sweetness. The soft bread dumplings were ideal for soaking up the sauce, while the cranberry topping added a refreshing tang. This dish captures the essence of comfort food with elegance. ⸻ Grilované kuřecí prsíčko Supreme (Grilled chicken supreme with green pepper sauce, and lard-roasted potato) A modern yet still grounded dish, the grilled chicken breast was juicy and well-seasoned, elevated by a robust and slightly spicy green peppercorn sauce. The side of potatoes slow-cooked in pork lard added a deliciously indulgent touch, with crispy edges and rich flavor that tied the whole plate together beautifully. ⸻ Pivovar U Medvídků masterfully blends authentic Czech flavors with outstanding service. Every dish we tried reflected quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and respect for Czech culinary heritage. With Sabina’s warm service and the cozy, traditional vibe, this was a highlight of our Prague trip. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Prague — don’t miss it!

Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be known that a fine establishment of good repute and hearty fare awaits within the heart of Old Town Prague at *Pivovar U Medvídků*. Tarry not, for this tavern – well-regarded by locals and travelers alike – provides a most authentic and satisfying feast for any weary soul in search of fine Czech vittles and ale. Upon our entry, we were most warmly received by attentive servants who, with promptness and cheer, saw to our every need. Never once did our goblets run dry nor our plates remain empty for long – such was the diligence of those in service. As for the drink, verily, the ale flowed as abundantly as a mountain stream. Their beer, brewed on-site with the utmost skill, was truly exceptional – rich in flavor, smooth upon the tongue, and potent enough to warm the heart on even the coldest day. It is clear this tavern knows the art of brewing, and the ale alone is worth the journey! Our feast began with *Vepřové Koleno*, a roast pork knee most glorious in size and flavor. Tender and seasoned to perfection, it was a dish to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. Following this came *Budvar Guláš*, a robust and savory stew that delighted the senses with each bite, the beef tender and the sauce rich with spices. To complete our feast, we savored a *Variace Klobásek*, a selection of sausages that were plump, juicy, and infused with bold flavors that spoke of the finest meats and seasonings. Despite the establishment’s popularity among travelers from afar, it maintains an air of authenticity, holding firm to the traditions and flavors of Czech fare. And as for the price, fear not, for even the most humble of travelers may dine well here without emptying their coin pouch. In sum, *Pivovar U Medvídků* is a grand choice for all who seek a truly Bohemian dining experience. With fine service, masterful brews, and hearty dishes, it is a place to feast, make merry, and celebrate the pleasures of life as a king would in his own hall.

This review is exclusively about the service in the restaurant/brewery. Not the hotel, nor the beers, which are great and all beer lovers must try. The service is absolutely awful. I arrived for lunch on a Monday at 11:50, the restaurant was completely empty, with 3 or 4 tables occupied and the thousand others free. They threw us (a couple) to the far back of the restaurant, in a other division and even the lights were off before we were put there. After complaining, they let us seat in a small table by the far end of the main hall. Disgusting from the start. But being a beer lover, I decided to stay and do what I went there to do: try the beers. And the waiters know NOTHING about the beers and what they serve. For example, the TASTING TRAY IS NOT WITH THE HOUSE BEERS!!! It’s with BUDVAR beers, not the house beers!!!!! And the lame waiter didn’t explain that!!! Felt very disappointed with the place, which I was really eager to go, because of the service. Bad bad bad. The house beers are good and Budvar beers are ok as well, but the tasting tray of Budvars is very expensive if you do the math, comparing to buy the same beers outside. Budvar is zero artisanal, it’s a huge company and you find their beers anywhere in Prague.

I am not a serial online ranter and it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. My experience at this restaurant two nights ago was so bad, that I feel I have to take the time to leave this review. It boils down to one thing, the staff was extremely unfriendly, out-rite rude and the service was absolutely horrible. We were a large group and immediately they appeared annoyed that we were there. I ordered a second round of drinks for the entire group and after 15-20 minutes, none of the drinks had arrived at the tables. I had to go to the service counter and remind them as it appeared they had forgotten. At that point I paid for the round of drinks right then and there. After 20 minutes, no drinks arrived. I returned to the counter to ask when we will get the drinks and they seemed confused. I showed them the receipt for the drinks i ordered 20 minutes earlier and they said they would bring them soon. 10 minutes later they brought less than half the drinks, and never returned with the rest. I had watched to make sure everyone got their drinks and when they didn’t appear to, I went to every member of our group to ask if they received their second drink to make sure I was correct before confronting the staff again.

I returned to the counter for a third time to ask where the rest of the drinks were at which point they said they already brought the drinks. I told them they were mistaken and in fact most drinks were still missing. The group of waiters then started speaking in their own language under their breath and appeared more annoyed by me (i believe they weren’t Czech). They continued to deny that they owed me any more drinks, at which point i asked for the manager. The manager came out and I explained the situation to her, while the staff denied my claims to her. The manager was visibly frustrated and said she didn’t know what to do because her staff was telling her that we had been served the drinks. I told her that that was not the case and I am not trying to scam the restaurant for a few drinks. At this point i should note, we were not intoxicated and this was only our second drink of the night I was attempting to order. Eventually, the manager negotiated me down to 2/3 of the drinks we were missing. Soon after, one of the waiters brought the drinks out and angrily slammed them down on the table in front of me.

Throughout this entire exchange i never once raised my voice or lost my temper. Their behavior as a collective staff was completely uncalled for and it was apparent that they didn’t want us there. One waiter looked like he wanted to hit me he was so angry, despite the fact that he was not even the one who took the order.

We come to Prague annually for a sporting event with over 30 people in our group ready to spend a lot of money for a good team bonding evening and experience. In the future, this joke of a restaurant will not be getting our business. We recommend anyone reading this to go to the Matuska pub and brewery. Very friendly staff, unbelievable food and the beer is the best I...

I've stayed here for (thankfully) just 2 night with my boyfriend, but we would never come back.

I've paid for superior double room and when we came to the reception they literally told us we had a beautiful room ready but there was a family coming in earlier and they needed bigger room so they had to move us. We came to the basic double room with no discount or anything, they literally just downgraded us and when I raised questions they were telling me there's nothing wrong with it and that there's free coffee, like that makes everything ok. Well not wanting to stay in that room I've booked a beer spa over the phone where receptionist said it will be 1700CZK but another shift just asked for nearly 2000CZK when we paid. We came down but the bath was half cold and the beer pipe included didn't work. I called reception and they said manager is coming right away. We get off the bath and waited for him in bathrobes for 15 mins and he didn't show up! We came up and he claimed he's been there but even receptionist asked if he was really there as she didn't trust him?? I doubt he ever showed up as we waited with unlocked door and didn't hear anything. He said sorry twice but that was it I had to ask for some compensation or something to make it right, but first he said no to that and then he offered 20£ with frowned face. It was ridiculous in just two days we left for everything combined over 700£.

Do yourself a favour and DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. I would 100% not recommend it. Just read the reviews and don't get fooled. They offer £££ price in draw for good reviews. Most of it here is big bs in hopes to win.. The manager just lies to people. When we waited in line for restaurant he told us it's full of 150 people and we need to wait 25 mins. Then more people came and he Infront of us! told them that there is 35 min wait because they all of a sudden have 250 people inside.

The whole establishment is a joke and staff is disrespectful. If you value your money just go and stay somewhere else....
