We had the most amazing dinner at CottoCrudo for Thanksgiving this year. I'd LOVE to return. The chef had a solid take on some traditional favorites...really delicious food-every single bite was incredible from the celery root mousse amuse bouche to the praline mousse tart. My daughter ordered the risotto with ash and it was the best risotto I've ever had. The turkey roulade really stood out with the sweet potato puree and the most flavorful stuffing I've had in my life-the texture was unlike anything I've had before. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. The service is what really stood out though. Diana was our waitress and she was SO attentive and kind. It was our kids' first 'fancy meal' and she made sure to include them and had the best suggestions and utmost patience with us. We wish we could have brought her home to the states with us--the kids felt so at home with her :) Also, loved the other sweet waitress (so sorry I forgot her name!). The staff was always there but also never intrusive. Our kids loved their fun mocktails and the bread was out of this world (we all could have filled up on it). Our glasses were never empty and we also never felt it was fussy either. The dessert medly was also unique-loved the macarons! The chef came out to chat which we truly enjoyed. It will stand out as one of the most memorable meals we've had together as a family. Thank you staff at CottoCrudo for making this meal one of the highlights of our...
Read moreStunning location, but food and service need improvement
CottoCrudo, located inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Prague, offers a truly elegant and refined setting, definitely the highlight of the experience. Service was generally good, though not flawless, as they forgot one course, which was later corrected without much issue.
Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. Dishes are beautifully presented, but the flavors lack balance and substance. The seasoning is often overwhelming and not always well-matched. For instance, the tagliatelle with red prawns (as shown in the photos) had such a strong orange flavor that it completely masked the taste of the prawns. In true Italian cuisine, and the chef claims to be Italian, flavors should be paired with finesse and restraint.
The turbot dish was another disappointment, with very little fish and too many sauces with conflicting tastes that drowned out any hint of the sea.
When you pay a premium for a dinner, you expect more. But the biggest issue of the night came from the sommelier, who offered a substitute wine without showing us the wine list and, more importantly, without mentioning that it would cost twice as much as the original bottle. That’s not acceptable. When the bill arrived, we ended up paying €280 for two, largely due to the wine. I paid without making a fuss, but I doubt I’ll return.
The three stars are mainly for the...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant for dinner after 3 years.
When I booked the table over the phone, staff was very friendly and helpful. Upon the arrival to the restaurant, we were greeted very nicely and escorted to our table by the lady that deals with the bookings.
Our waitress happened to be Zuzana. When I had some questions about the meals on the menu, she was SO arrogant. It felt like I was bothering her with every single question. Our table was also dirty. We pointed it out to the manager of the shift. Instead of an apology, he listed number of reasons why the table is dirty and of course did not clean it. Towards the end, we ordered deserts and asked for coffee to be served with the desert. Desert was served and coffee did not arrive. Only after we finished our desert, staff realized that they forgot about the coffee (we were not charged for it but it does not help to improve the experience).
The food itself was good. Tasty, from fresh ingredients and nicely served.
I have to give only 3 stars as the quality of staff and their approach towards guests (who spend several thousand crowns for dinner) has to be on a completely different level, especially in the Four Seasons restaurent. Despite the food was good, we will not visit again in the near future.
P.S. You should take an example from La Finestra's and Aromi's...
