Warpigs Brewpub in Copenhagen makes you pause and think, Wait—Denmark does BBQ? And surprisingly, impressively, the answer is yes. And they do it well.
Tucked into the lively Meatpacking District, Warpigs feels like part Texas smokehouse, part European beer hall, and part industrial backyard party. The line is long (brace yourself), and the staff, while not unfriendly, definitely keep things moving with a sense of urgency that borders on brisk—no leisurely browsing here. You order, you move, and you’re very aware of the crowd behind you breathing down your neck.
Once you’ve made it through the gauntlet, though, it’s all worth it. The brisket is tender, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The ribs have that perfect bark, and the sides—mac and cheese, pickled vegetables, slaws—round everything out with flair. The only downside? The sauce situation. There are just three options, and the one that seemed to hit just right was, frustratingly, empty the entire time we were there. No refills in sight. For a BBQ joint, that’s a bit of a letdown.
The beer, on the other hand, is stellar. Brewed in-house, it’s a rotating selection of IPAs, stouts, and wild ales that cater to both beer nerds and casual drinkers alike. Grab a flight, claim a picnic table outside, and settle in.
The vibe? Loud, a little chaotic, but undeniably fun. Warpigs isn’t polished—but it’s lively, satisfying, and a little unexpected. For a Copenhagen twist on American BBQ, this...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place after all of the reviews I had seen from here and YouTube.
It's a popular place so you expect a bit of mess but the floors are literally covered in dirty stains. It needs a good scrub.
And the food - it's hit and miss. I asked for a Texas Smorrebrod which according to the website menu came with some bread and extras. I instead got a plate of just the meats that were available and that I selected, in my case; beef ribs, brisket and spare ribs. There was a queue and I figured I might've read the menu wrong so went back to the table and saw that I had obviously been served incorrectly but felt embarrassed so just left it at that.
The beef ribs were the best thing on my plate. The rest was just too fatty. I understand it's pork, but I've had enough BBQ throughout the world to know what a decent brisket takes like that - and it's not that sloppy and greasy mess of meat.
You look at the reviews here and realise that the biggest issue appears to be consistency. It's a right hit and miss of what people found to be good and bad and there's a reason for that.
I will say that the beers are good though. I just think you need to make sure that you're clear about what you're ordering because a plate of fatty meat without any sides to soak it up becomes a chore by...
