Terrible service and suspicious food quality. I ordered one pho and it had this chemical tastes or fragrance, very different from my friend’s pho. I guess it’s the dishwashing soap that’s not washed way completely. I asked the young waitress to use a clean spoon to taste my soup if she didn’t mind. She tasted it and said it’s normal and then she tried to use her used spoon to taste my friend’s soup and I kindly stopped her and ask her to use a clean spoon. She did it. However, she used her USED spoon to taste my soup again. I did not even have the time to stop her. THAT’S NOT OKAY. Afterall she said it’s totally fine. Well if I was at a different restaurant, they would serve me a new bowl at the beginning. Then I told her since she used the spoon to taste my soup again, I can’t eat the pho anymore. I don’t like some strangers’ saliva in my soup and it’s more about sanitation. She reacted very inappropriately and was not polite at all. She was angry and insisting what she did is totally fine and that’s my asking. When the elder waitress came, she talked to her furiously and did not even give me a chance to talk. The elder waitress did not want to exchange my pho at first either. I just can’t believe people serve the table like this in Denmark and I insisted the young waitress’s behavior is not okay. The elder waitress was not willing to at all at the end but finally agreed to make a “new” pho for me. A NEW pho, the soup taste okay, no chemical taste anymore, but the noodle “weirdly” still had this chemical taste. I don’t make any conclusion now but I didn’t eat it. TERRIBLE! No wonder they charge 15 DKK for tap water. A little greedy.
Lady, I NEVER ask you to used your USED spoon to taste my soup. Even if I did ask, it’s not okay because sanitation code and you should be...
Read moreThere were a few hit and misses. Hit: A sweet lady in the back told the younger two staff to let me sit at a table when they were about to decline if didn’t have a reservation, which I appreciated. I was warned that there’s a seating scheduled in less than an hour which was okay as I knew what I wanted. The young staff are really hardworking and quick, they may come off not as personable but they’re running a whole restaurant and are quite efficient. The broth is by far one of the most authentic versions I’ve had, so flavourful. It was also accompanied with generous beef (served medium rare which is how I usually prefer it), delicious meatballs, and plenty of veggies on the side. They have the original sriracha! And hoisin sauce which is scarce to find among other Vietnamese restaurants
Misses: Although broth was so flavourful, it was served lukewarm that it didn’t cook the bean sprouts and eventually made the noodles mushy and became starchy water afterwards. I then had to douse in condiments to continue eating soggy noodles. I asked for a takeout container and was warned 4DKK which is fine as I was trying to help clear out before their next reservation. I was given a container but packed myself, which is also fine, but when looking at another table I see the server doing this for another guest and offering to bag it. Was I different from the other table? Tip is prompted. I haven’t seen this anywhere yet but their pricing is good compared to other restaurants.
Overall, still very delicious pho, generally friendly service, and will make a reservation next time that I can sit and truly enjoy my food - and ask for less...
Read moreThe springrolls with pork and vegetables are well packed fully to have good bite and fried in the right temperature of oil. (Oil is too hot and the outer shell cooks too dark and the inside is cold. The oil is too cold and the whole thing starts absorbing excessive amount of oil when it is fried, which quite evident when served.) The sweet sauce with the veggies on the side makes the rolls quite an enjoyable starter.
The PHỞ HANOI - BÒ had the rice noodles soup, beef and vegetables. Starting with the broth, it had the milder fresheness flavour to it. Not too strong but the low mellow rich flavour to tie together the rest of the ingredients in the bowl. You do get a generous amount of fresh mint, corriander leaves and bean sproutes with the pho. A small bowl of fresh chopped red chilli is also given as a part of it. Take them all and dump them in. By the time the hot broth has completely cooked in the beef, the rest of the additional ingredients you are adding bring the richness of the broth to a whole new level. It's no wonder this place is packed in the summer and there generally a line to dine here at that time. The small squeeze og lemon that's also part of the platter ties it all together. The freshly cut onion slices with the fine chopped spring onions is helping perfectly cut through the flavour. Devouring the entire bowl as soon as possible while relishing it is the target. As the longer you take to do it, the noodles gets soggier. (which i personally do not prefer). The soup spoon and the one time use chopsticks are the cutlery provided.
