La Potinière — Restaurant in Bonneville

We came to this restaurant for a coffee and crepes and to their credit the food and drinks were very tasty. The interior is very nice.

What really let the place down was the service. We felt unwelcome from the outset, which we can only assume was because we are English as others had much more receptive treatment.

Our waiter was rude, barely acknowledging us and slamming our food and drinks down on the table. I speak fairly good French and was ordering in French, thus the waiter (Nicholas) knew there was a minimal language barrier.

We asked to speak to a manager after paying as we didn’t want to leave a bad review. This request was ignored.

My friend wrote a bad review reflective of the poor service in response to which the waiter in question came over cornering us and asking why we had written this. He claimed that he was having a bad day which would be acceptable if other reviews didn’t suggest that this is a pattern of behaviour. The exchange was extremely uncomfortable and we felt like we weren’t going to be allowed to leave if we did not delete the review. As two young girls, this exchange made us feel threatened and uncomfortable, to the point where we left without finishing our drinks. They serve FROZEN pizza!!! ??? Probably WORSE pizza ever had at a restaurant. Went up to the owner and said this is simply really bad pizza. You are a restaurant in the city center and serve FROZEN pizza? You are located a few kilometers away from Italy and you still haven't learned from them how to serve good pizza in a restaurant?? Shame on you. His answer was: "look, it's on the menu... so I asked him to show me where and in super fine print it says "surgele"... (frozen)". So I said, ok, "it's on the menu". Probably it would help if they print that a bit bigger so I don't have to carry around a magnifying glass to read a menu.

On the menu or not, it's a shame a restaurant in a well known city like this one can make you pay 9 euros for FROZEN pizza I can buy at a supermarket myself and cook better.

Interesting enough two tables away from us also stood up and brought the food back to the manager complaining for how bad it was. Glad to know other people know what good food should taste like. Yet another disappointing restaurant in France.

You think being close to Italy they would learn how to cook better.

Four of us came for lunch. The lady who stood at the door was very kind and smiling. He escorted us to our table. Then a waitress came and took our order. He was completely unfriendly. I don't think he would have had a problem with us, because even before we had ordered anything, it was written on his face that he was just waiting for the end of the work. We ordered a meat platter with cheese as an appetizer. When we received the bowl, we quickly ate the bread offered with it and wanted to order more. When we asked if it was possible to have some more bread, of course he said yes, but everything was written on his face. I don't think it's a nice thing to make faces at the guests or pull our mouths. The main course was more or less okay. The beef steak was tasteless, but of perfect quality. I don't want to trash this place because of a person who had a bad day, but he definitely doesn't deserve full marks. I rate this as medium, leaving open the possibility that we will return...
