The location is fine and the food has to be good. But these are probably the only good things about this place. BEWARE extremely overrated. The waiters are extremely arrogant. I was on a family trip to Strasburg . We made a reservation. They are not helpful in explaining the menu. Moreover they require each person to order an entire plate regardless of whether the client is able to eat. We were five ordered three foods and two salads with wine but the waiter insisted on having us order 5 foods saying that "this is a restaurant..."(Daah we understand it is obviously) and refused to serve. EDITED after the owner response Below: 1-The waiter was indeed unhelpful and arrogant saying that he has many customers and he cannot spend time on each customer explaining the menu. If you are serving overpriced foods then you better have waiters who are ready to help. 2-We indeed ordered three full foods and NOT snacks but the waiter refused to take them unless EVERY single person would order full food. Just the owners response and attitude to this honest review shows the level of their arrogance and how they treat their customers. Nothing to...

Overpriced, and all cheese and meat literally everything is over salted

Edit: probably it would be better to elaborate. They literally force you to order hotpot for each person when one is extremely enough for even four of us (since each type of cheese are equally super salted and after wine or garlic in it, it becomes even stronger flavoured with the natural door in cheese.) I mean I totally understand how cheese would taste like but it’s just definitely not for a mass majority’s preference the way they make it. So with that said, you are paying about 50 euros for each to dip bread in hot smelly and salty to disgust cheese with barely no meat since you need to pay for the extra. And the waiters/waitress are just so convinced and confident that 50 euros per each can’t buy even fast food level service (be careful with the plate, I don’t know how you can clean them so they look like just coming out of your grandma’s deserted house).

So if that’s the experience you are offering without any shame, I just wish you all the best and I’m on all my duty to warn every tourist you...

This is my first negative review I’ve left at a restaurant! Came to Strasbourg and this was my least favorite restaurant by far. We ordered an unseasoned Seabass and an undercooked filet at a cheese restaurant - probably my fault. My mother had taken one bite of the seabass and disliked it. I asked the waiter for a new dish and she said no and we will still be charged because my mother tried a bite. How else are we suppose to find out if it’s enjoyable beforehand? Then - we ordered 2 steaks. Medium rare and medium. They of course gave us the wrong steaks - and they were extremely stringy and fatty (especially for a filet?) Anyways, I wasn’t that upset about my dishes not being like able, but I was extremely disappointed and upset they did not offer a way to fix it. Extremely rude service after politely mentioning what had been wrong. I may be a tourist but I’ve been in the fine dining restaurant my entire life - that’s not how you treat customers and keep up a restaurants reputation. Key takeaway: do NOT order any main dishes. You better stick to cheese at the...

Was surprisingly disappointed. I expected much more of this place. They told me it was "all you can eat" cheese and fondue, however, my second serving of fondue was brought good half an hour after I asked for it. All this time I sat at the empty table - my first fondue was gone, and they weren't rushing to refill it. And, unfortunately, fondue itself didn't impress me much. I ordered the most basic version to see their level of craftsmanship - and it didn't strike me. Alcohol free options were limited to just bottled limonade and water. No alcohol free wine, no housemade beverages. But the worst thing was the atmosphere. A manager who greeted me warmly and helped me to get a table without a reservation, was talking to his employees in a completely different manner. I accidentally overheard a couple of interactions between him and his staff, and they deeply saddened me. I don't like to be in places where the workers are treated poorly. This business has a great potential and can probably benefit from a bit more effort.

If you’re a cheese lover, you simply must make the pilgrimage to La Cloche à Fromage. It holds the Guinness world record for largest fresh cheese offering from the giant display Cloche (pictured) and even if a cold cheese plate isn’t your thing, you can order from the menu where cheese included with every dish. They have an English menu, a great wine list and very helpful servers. You can opt for a cheese selection, their famous All-you-can-eat Raclette & fondue, or a seasonally changing menu. We tried the Bärlauch fondue and the offered Normandy steak. We started with the escargot pot pie, which was absolutely delicious. They also always serve Aligot, famous cheesy potatoes. (basically mashed potatoes with a cheesy pull capability) Menu: https://www.fromagerie-tourrette.com/en/le-restaurant-la-cloche-a-fromage/ Reservations are a MUST, but it’s easy to book online. They also run a cheese shop by the same name across the street & in Epernay (Champagne Region)
