Terrible staff and service (except for the guy who wipes the table) My partner and I got done with eating and ordered a tea. The tea had just arrived, the man who takes the orders asked his other staff to clean our table, while my full glass of tea is still on the table. Some of the food crumps fell on my partner while he politely told the guy it’s not manners to wipe the table when customers are still consuming stuff if the table - and asked him to inform the main guy to not do that again. That’s it. They could have left it right there. This this main guy comes with another women and says this is the practice in their restaurant - apparently the owner will be mad if he didn’t clean right then. Then he goes on saying we had a bottle of electrolyte on their table and it’s not manners for us to keep outside electrolyte on their restaurant table - and asks us to explain how that’s right ( for context, it was 30 degrees in berlin today and my dehydrated partner got a bottle of electrolyte from the nearby apotheke. ) i understand bringing in alcohol or carbonated drinks isn’t right. Then I looked around and noticed most tables had their personal water bottles and flasks on their table. I reminded the guy that I was the paying customer, and they did not sell electrolytes on they menu and my partner was extremely dehydrated. He still went on and on about that - while I kept reminding him I was a paying customer - the other lady randomly comes by throws shades and walks away. They kept me waiting long for the bill too. Mumbai local was a place I visited frequently and brought a lot of my friends to try their food. But today is the last. Extremely Rude people. I have had nice conversations with their other staff in the past. But the people today were...
Read moreDisappointing and Far from Authentic Indian Food. I had high hopes for Mumbai Local, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. As someone who has enjoyed authentic Indian cuisine many times, I can confidently say that this place doesn’t even come close to real Indian flavors.
First, the food was extremely bland. Indian food is known for its rich spices and bold flavors, but what I got was mild, tasteless, and lacked any of the complexity you’d expect from Indian dishes. Even the supposed "spicy" dishes barely had any heat. It felt as if the chefs were afraid to use spices altogether.
Additionally, the dishes were poorly seasoned, leaving me wondering if they had forgotten to add salt. It felt like a watered-down version of Indian food designed for people who have never experienced the real thing. If you’re looking for authentic Indian taste, this is NOT the place to go.
The presentation of the food also left much to be desired. For the price, I expected a better dining experience, but the food looked hastily thrown together and lacked any care or finesse.
Overall, this restaurant may appeal to those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, but if you want real Indian food with bold, vibrant flavors, I recommend looking elsewhere. It’s a shame that this place calls itself "Mumbai Local" when it doesn’t do justice to the amazing street food you’d actually...
Read moreHave been going to this place since it opened 2 years ago and with each visit, the food & service standards keep going down and down. Today was the last time we visit here. The place was full as usual and when we asked the server for a place, he kept insisting that it will take 30-40 minutes. To this we responded its ok and we will wait, but he still kept coming back stating the same, and at one point asked what we want to eat - when we said we just need tea and snacks, he seemed agitated and pointed us to a place across the place. I know that place and know they don’t serve tea, and when I told him that’s a German restaurant and don’t serve tea, he seems perplexed and did not know what to respond. Then as we expected, within 10 mins we got a place to sit inside. On food, my personal opinion is that it was not great - we asked for tea with no sugar, to which is said that there will be little tea, which implied that they don’t make fresh tea - and when it came within 2 mins, it was too sweet for our taste and did not taste fresh. Samosa were also bad and filling was bland - they need to learn samosa making from Swadishta restaurant. We had a bad experience last time as well, but wanted to give one more chance but it was absolutely horrible experience today for us, so never...
