AWFUL. Avoid this restaurant because it is not worth the money. We received a menu which was more like a questionnaire, ( you check the boxes on the menu items you want) quite odd, on top of that the waitress only gave us one besides the fact that we were 4 people. Quite annoying. Onto the food, I understand that this is Greece and you wouldn’t put your standards as high as say the United States/Mexico, yet this owner has no clue what Mexican food is and how it should be served. We looked on the menu for their margarita options, to find out that they don’t offer margaritas, at a Mexican restaurant, that was very disappointing. We then opted for sangrias which were actually quite good. Being that we were 4 we made the choice to get a 1L pitcher (€23) instead of a single glass (€6) big mistake. The pitcher is the size of a liter but they drown half the pitcher with ice…. Which left us all with about a quarter of a glass. I understand that any restaurants try to cut corners but this was just to over the top. We placed our orders and never received chips and salsa (also a normal thing to receive at a Mexican restaurant before receiving you food. We asked the waitress who gave us a puzzled look and stated they don’t have chips and salsa. We then realised that this wasn’t going to be the pleasant restaurant experience we were hoping for, and a lot of our expectations were not fulfilled. We were shocked when we received the food, the quesadillas covered not even half the plate (please see picture included) , the sorriest quesadilla I’ve had in my life, and I’ve had quite a share, the size of it didn’t even cover half the plate, besides the fact that it did not come with rice and beans, a very common practice to serve rice and beans with any main dish at Mexican restaurants, yet here they don’t. Upon asking the waiter about the minuscule portion size she replied that it was an appetiser. We quickly asked to see the menu again, to where there was no indication of the dish being an appetiser. When notifying the waitress of this she rudely replied that we should have asked her. Wow quite unprofessional and clearly trying to find a way out of the situation. She then told us that the menu was temporary and they are working on adding new dishes…(there were very few options to choose from. I find that hard to believe The quesadilla was of low quality as far as taste goes besides the fact that it is small….and for €10….ridiculous, you can go to La dokolla, the restaurant right next to it and get a meat dish with about 4 times the amount of food and much tastier for €10. We also tried the chorizo croquettes which looked like something that came from a frozen box and was made in the air fryer, 6 small pieces that the inside tasted nothing of chorizo but more like some type of bean paste. The only thing decent was the chicken wings, a little over fried, yet still somewhat tasty and a good sized portion. The owner of this restaurant really needs to revise to more Mexican restaurants to see how things are done properly, because they currently haven’t got a clue. We left very...
Read moreWe recently visited La Brasa and were unfortunately disappointed by our experience. As German Muslims, we rely heavily on the menu descriptions to avoid dishes containing pork, which we do not consume due to religious reasons. In this instance, the general ingredients did not list pork, but apparently, it was indicated in the name of the dish, which we did not recognize.
We were charged the full price for the dish despite this misunderstanding. Coming from a family with a background in gastronomy, we understand that accommodating religious dietary restrictions is generally a matter of customer service and goodwill, especially when it is not about personal taste but rather religious observance.
Unfortunately, the restaurant did not offer us an alternative dish without an additional charge. While the tacos were excellent, we found the handling of the situation to be unprofessional. It’s a thumbs down from us. We hope that the restaurant will improve its customer service and consider being more accommodating in such situations...
Read moreThis bistro has a strong Spanish influence and manages to offer a unique dinning experience in Heraklion. We had the ceviche, the octopus carpaccio salad, fried calamari and octopus with chickpeas paired with Thema white wine and continued on with the Paella which resembled more of a risotto than paella, the beef tenderloin and the pork pancetta which could have been less cooked but were still tender and tasty. The meat pairing was done with a Fallen Oak form Kir Giannis Estate which was exceptional.
The desserts consisted of a on the house churros and hazelnut creta combo and on top we ordered a chocolate soufflé which although tasty was extremely small and a pineapple cream dessert which name I can’t recall which was really nice and fresh.
Overall, the location, the decoration, service and food makes this restaurant...
