Trattoria Vittoria da Aldo — Restaurant in Venice

Had two absolutely fabulous meals here, returning on a second evening after such wonderful food and service on the first night. A true taste of Venice, not a dumbed down tourist menu. The liver melted in your mouth and tasted devine. The lamb was succulent and flavoursome with fresh vegetables that were simply cooked to maintain their great taste. Although there wasn't a cheese board in the menu at my request cheese was found and beautifully presented with a tiny dish of honey. If these were my last meals on earth I would die happy. Wonderful staff added to the traditional and authentic atmosphere and their helpfulness describing the menu could not be faulted, when translation proved tricky, showing produce solved the problem. Cover charge of €4 and the price of the lasagne meatball dish was €16- of which, there was virtually no meat and no taste.

Food took around 8 minutes, which is extremely fast considering they attested to the freshness of the dish with regards to its preparation etc. The food was therefore, awful.

Service- our waiter, nick, was rather impertinent through his unattentive attitude, offering bread when the mains were being brought out and not checking on us to see how the food was.

Some restaurant carry a philosophy of the customer always being right, so as to give them a catered experience, do not expect that here! It is to be expected that if you have a problem with the quality of the food, Roberto, the manager/owner, will escort you out and berate...

All the dishes and the wine we ordered were excellent (especially the Venetian Sea Snails are highly recommended!) and we were very pleasantly surprised. Since we only ordered seafood dishes, we can highly recommend them.

All in all, it was very tasty and the restaurant is now absolutely one of our favourite restaurants in Venice. In contrast to 5-star restaurant we had been to the night before, this restaurant was very attentive to our wishes, the service of our personal waiter was top notch and his anecdotes about the Venetian Bella Vita made our visit very entertaining.
