Hitachino Brewing Tokyo Yaesu — Restaurant in Tokyo

Nestled in the rafters of Tokyo Station’s exterior is this little gem of a brew lab.

Even if you aren’t familiar with Japanese craft beer, you should know Hitachino Nest. It’s been around since forever (well 1996 or so).

For me, I think I had my first one back in Australia before moving to Singapore 10 years ago where there are brewpubs that stock it extensively.

On this visit with nearly 20K steps in the legs I needed some sustenance and opted for the nitro coffee stout. It came in a plastic cup and I stood at a nearby table surveying the station activity below. This was perfection!

After inhaling that, I went for the Dai Dai IPA which packed a refreshingly fruity hoppy punch!

Great little outpost of Hitachino Nest. It can be a little tricky to find, being one level up from ground on the Yaesu side of the station. Head out to Yaesu side and take an escalator up.

The food range is limited, but the beers are what you're here for. There's a core range plus a few seasonals and others on rotation.

There's a cool, but again limited, range of merchandise just adjacent to the bar.

Free Wi-Fi (that's pretty decent) is an added bonus, in case you're awaiting transfer/delayed/cancelled...

Great selection of Hitachino beers on tap. For anyone not familiar with this brewery, Hitachino makes proper beer that can rival any high-end microbrewery. I buy a lot of Hitachino bottles back home, so it was a nice treat to be able to try some different ones here.
