I’ill start this review with a strong statement: this is the best affordable sushi money can buy in Tokyo (at least on touristic routes). During my 3 weeks journey across Japan I have been there 3 times (1 during my first days in Japan and 2 in my last few days before my departure). Everytime I opted for a set and added a few pieces as a side. A big plus to me was how clean the place was, as we are talking about (mainly) raw fish, hygienic standards must be high to prevent any sort of sickness/problems. The chefs at the bar where working, taking fish (some of them wrapped in cellophane) from a case in front of them cutting it thoroughly. Once you order you are immediately given a bowl of miso soup which tastes very flavorful and pleasingly salty. Every chef is in charge of about 3 or 4 people at once but, despite that, the service is fast and precise. Every piece was delicious and pretty big in size, starting from more basic ones like tamagos to more high-end pieces like otoro, chutoro and unagi nigiris. If I had to point out my two most favorite pieces in there, I would select otoro and unagi. The first one was extremely soft and buttery, despite being fat you could definitely feel the tuna flavor spreading through your mouth. The unagi instead was seared with sauces (probably soy sauce) and salty, being seared you could feel the fish melting in your mouth. The last time I ate here I ordered a chirashi bowl (seafood rice bowl) and, despite me not being chirashi’s best fan, I must admit that it was amazing. The bowl was very filling (we had one set each and then splitted one chirashi bowl) and the amount of sashimi over the rice was remarkable. The first time I had: 1 x premium set, 1 x otoro nigiri, 1 x hosomaki roll for a total amount of around 3200 yen=20 euros (march 2024). For everything else I think pictures can speak for themselves. If you are in Asakusa and fancy some good sushi you...

Read moreまぐろ人 新仲見世通り店 Magurobito Shinnakamise dori ten is a great conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Not so crowded in the mid afternoon and after 7PM or so. In January and February they feature milt, a seasonal delicacy. They also serve odori ebi (dancing shrimp). Good house sake.
