Quite a wait to get in. They opened at 11:30, we arrived around 11:40 and waited until around 1:13 to get seated so make sure to get there early!
Great customer service! English menu available. Our server was very attentive, even caught me mentioning I wanted another beer to my partner, then came to offer me another round. The food was delicious! We ordered the original, beef, and pork + green onion okonomiyaki. I would have liked to try the pork and kimchi monjayaki, but the three okonomiyaki was enough to share between my partner and I.
Price range seemed decent in my opinion. We spent around 7000 yen for 1 appetizer of kimchi, 3 okonomiyaki, and 5 beers
Overall great experience. My partner hasn’t had okonomiyaki before and he thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Other things to note: • shoes will be taken off if seated upstairs, they have a locker available to put your shoes in • bathrooms available in restaurant, use the unisex slippers provided when using the restroom • call button available for whenever you want to order anything • okonomiyaki is made by the chefs downstairs, monjayaki is made by yourself at your grilling table • staff was able to speak pretty good English! We were able to order everything perfectly communicating to our waiter in English • hangers available to hang coats and such on the wall • bags for umbrella or umbrella hanging area available for customers (it was raining pretty heavily the day we went so it was nice to have instead of carrying a wet...
Read moreVery popular location in Asakusa! On the Saturday that we went, the restaurant opened at 11:30AM. We arrived to a small line outside of the location, but waited for about an hour. When you sit down to dine, you will understand why the wait was so long. It is definitely worth it! The line grew very long as we were waiting for our turn.
Service was amazing and fast! Our server spoke very good English to help us understand portions and how much we should order at a time. For two people that came very hungry during lunch time, we ordered three different Okonomiyaki! We regretfully did not order the Monjayaki, but will be back for it our next trip! The restaurant can accommodate parties larger than two, but it looked like most floor tables seated four at the most. A larger party will most likely be split amongst two or more tables with skillets.
Don’t forget to have a beer with your food! There’s something about having fried food and beer together that makes the food taste even better haha.
Do not let the long line outside of the place discourage you! The wait is worth it. I cannot wait to come back to Japan (Asakusa) again to try more...
Read moreThis restaurant likely has 4.5 stars due to tourist reviews. (Higher than if only reviewed by locals or asian tourists) I give 4.5 stars for the food. It was excellent for what it is. I sat at the bar and my food was prepared by the staff. Would definitely eat again. The wait time was very poor. I succeeded in eating here on my second attempt. I was alone and wanting to sit at the bar. When I was seated on the 2nd attempt, I was the only person sitting at the bar, yet I still waited over an hour to be seated. The first day I attempted to eat here, there was no one at the bar and I decided to eat elsewhere before even getting close to the front of the queue. This could be managed significantly better. Once seated, my food did take a long time to be prepared. I was given a very small glass of water after being seated. I finished this within a few seconds, and was not given a refill until I was able to get the attention of a staff member. I finished that glass immediately and again had to wait and felt like I was making an unreasonable request to have my little cup filled again. Good food, poor service...
