Was such a terrible experience dining in at this restaurant. Will never again visit this restaurant any time I'm future. Our great evening was terribly spoilt by the very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. We dine in on 17/2, around 7.30pm to celebrate my mother's birthday.
We ordered crab masala (2 plates), prawn sambal, mutton masala and chicken blackpepper. None of the dishes above tasted good, not even average except for the mutton. Very very terrible.
Crab Masala - 1/10. Clearly used the leftover chicken and fish curry to cook the crabs. We had around 7 pieces of chickens and the bladder in our crab masala 🤣. Such a terrible act by the restaurant. The masala taste very weird as we only taste the mixture of chicken and fish curry being recycled. Nevertheless, the crab was very fresh and it's such a shame to waste those beautiful crabs 😭
Mutton Masala - 10/10. We really loved the mutton, so soft and tender. The gravy was spot on.
Prawn Sambal - 1/10. First of all we don't understand what is prawn sambal doing in a Kerala Restaurant and upon the lady boss suggestion we decided to give a try to it. Hahaha I can't express how horrible it taste. Again, the prawn was very fresh but it got rejected very badly into the fiery sambal. The chilli was not grinded fine enough and it gave me horrible gastric that night. All we tasted in the sambal was just chilli paste, no flavor at all.
Chicken Blackpepper - 0/10. This was extremely terrible. We returned the entire dish to them. They clearly recycled the chicken. The chicken meat was coming off the bones and shredded apart. Very awfully looking chicken. The Blackpepper chicken was like chicken rasam, hahaha very watery. I got shock of my life when the lady boss told me that they pre boil or pre cook the chicken before using them for their chicken dishes like masala or blackpepper. Later on, she admitted that they use curry chickens, washed and adjusted into chicken blackpepper. Also, they decorated the chicken with bawang goreng (Malay fried shallot that they put on nasi goreng) Can you imagine any restaurant serving such dishes to their customers? Very very very horrible act!
On another note, this restaurant has nothing to do with Kerala Cuisine. Such a shame to you guys for cheating your customer. We come with a hope to taste the delicious Kerala food but you're serving us sambal and lousy food. The cook are all foreigners (Indonesia and Bangladesh). Please never ever come again to this restaurant. Might as well dine in at Karaikudi Restaurant or Ananda Bhavan. Big shame on you guys for cheating your customers on the name of...
Read moreUsed to be my fav banana leaf restaurant but since 2.5 years ago I rarely frequent this restaurant as I feel the price is getting ridiculous and portion is getting really small. However, yesterday I have decided to give it another chance so I went again.
Yet again, I am disappointed. The banana leaf with white rice is RM12 and they gave a small portion of side dish on the first round itself. It’s like they encourage you to order add on dishes on which we did. Asked to add a little bit more side dish and again so little on second round. Added up 2 rounds of vegetarian side dish with rice also not worth RM12.
Some nasi kandar or nasi dagang stalls may charge say like RM12-14 but at least it’s proper with chicken, eggs and veggies, this is all vegetarian small portion side dishes and it’s RM12!
They add A LOT of shallot/onion into the fried cauliflower and fried bitter gourd making both the dishes taste more like fried shallot/onion rather than cauliflower and bitter gourd. Both of these dishes are very disappointing.
If you intend to only order one dish, I would recommend the mutton varuval. The rest you may wanna give them a skip.
Anyway this place is just a normal banana leaf restaurant. If the owners intend to over-charge his patrons, at least upgrade the restaurant, newer more comfortable tables and chairs to...
Read moreThis is not a typical Kerala(Indian) restaurant except for the fact that the food gets served here on a banana leaf. I was surprised to see that were no Indians at all in the restaurant, that's probably because the food is more of a mix of Kerala/south Indian/Malay and not authentic Kerala food. If you are looking for authentic south Indian food, I suggest you head to little India. The place was packed in the evening and highly understaffed. There is usually a wait here since the restaurant is small. I could see the same person juggling with cleaning the table, taking/delivering the order, and at the billing counter. Service is fine but some male staff seemed rude.
Only rice is served here as a main course. No other Kerala food gets served here. Dal gravy and beans were meh. The only saviour is the chicken and fish curry's which were the best. Gravy consistency was thick, spicy and tasted good. The vegetable biryani rice wasn't cooked well as it was hard to chew but it did have some Indian spices. Plain rice meals costs 8, tomato rice meal costs 9 and vegetable biryani costs 13. Rice and the sides are limited. Juice costed 5 but was too watery. Costs are reasonable. Meal for 2 would be around 50 if your taking extra fish/chicken/mutton along with a drink. Definitely not...
