We ordered a few dishes. Meesuan soup - plenty of small mushroom pcs/ginger slices but only 2 meatballs? And the noodle came in 1 big chunk (clumpy into a big ball) in the soup, I had to keep stirring for many rounds before I could separate it into smaller chunks to eat. I didn't feedback this dish to her. But I believe most of us would understand how a big chuck of noodles in soup would taste like (some parts of noodles just tasteless, can be quite disgusting to swallow clumpy noodles).
Vegetarian mushroom (to replace wine chicken), instead of mushroom with gravy it came mushroom with soup. Omg! The taste was terrible. Mum wasn't a fussy eater, but she couldn't even finish half of her meal. I tried, the taste really wasn't acceptable. The lady boss/staff explained why it came as a soup bcos only chicken is stewed/cooked for long. For mushroom, it is just a quick cook dish. But why didn't she tell us it would be a mushroom soup instead of mushroom dish with gravy when we order? Sigh...
Pic shown - all mushrooms and some soup taken out but clearly see half of the bowl are water (very light liquid soup, not gravy texture).
Before we left, mum ordered a coffee, commented the coffee was surprisingly good!!!! certainly different from the food we order! So we are convinced that we didn't order the right dishes which they're good at.
We didn't order other dishes so I'm not sure what to recommend but coffee is definitely good to try. Although we weren't lucky to try the right dish but I must agree the serving portion is good/quite generous!!! (as many of us know that the common serving size is quite small in Penang).
If anyone knows what are the good dishes to order, can recommend? I really won't mind to visit again to try 2nd time, rarely any cafe is good at every single dish...
Read moreA homecook style restaurant offering varieties of food ranging from Chinese to Western. Portion is big portion with reasonably priced.
Food taste good but not up to restaurant level, interior is relatively simple and clean. Staff are friendly enough that make you feel like relative aunty taking care of you instead of stranger serving you. Overall I felt like eating at friend's house cooking by his mom more than dining at a restaurant. The BGM of oldies are a good touch.
Usually I only give restaurant at this caliber 3-4 ☆. However they are one of the few restaurant that are eco-friendly. They provide metal straws for your drink instead of plastic. You also get RM1 off your takeaway order if you bring your own container. I feel like we need to do our part and support more of these eco-friendly restaurant so I rate them 5 ☆.
Besides, they also give you RM1 off per table if you present New World Park parking ticket since it's quite difficult to find a place to park over that area. The price on the menu is what you'll pay so no GST or extra...
Read moreCame across this café on social media and decided to bring my family to try their wine chicken. It was a bit confusing at first since the menu on Google shows mostly vegetarian dishes, but the restaurant actually serves non-vegetarian food as well.
My uncle really enjoyed both the yellow wine mee suah and the red glutinous wine mee suah — both were thick, flavorful, and packed with taste. That’s definitely a plus! The special of the day was pork belly braised with salted fish, which wasn’t really to our liking. Curry chicken with bread is good too. Thick and flavorful. The Western dishes were just okay, but overall, we still had a pleasant dining experience.
Highly recommended for those who love wine chicken. No reservation is needed, but if you’re bringing elderly guests or someone in a wheelchair, it’s best to call ahead for arrangement.
Parking can be quite challenging as there are only two free spots right in front of the café. Paid parking is available nearby, but you’ll need to walk a...
