Young lady that took my order, please take down orders using a notepad if you can’t remember all the orders and can’t remember them correctly. When she repeated the order to us she wasn’t able to recite it all and embarrassingly asked me to tell her again my order. I ordered hojicha latte but she gave me hazelnut latte. In the menu it says poached eggs for their miso mushroom toast, and I specifically ordered that dish because I wanted to eat poached eggs, but I was served with an omelette. I asked the staff about this, but they told me that it has always been omelette, but I told them it is written there as poached. They just apologised and asked if I’m okay with the food, which I just carried on with it. I also came here for their hojicha burnt cheesecake because my good friend told me to visit this place for the cake, but it’s apparently “seasonal” and was unavailable so I was so upset with the entire meal I just had no appetite to eat my meal, felt like I was forcing myself to eat so I don’t waste food and money. Was told by those that dined with me that their chicken was very tough, and the mashed potatoes wasn’t seasoned enough so it was a bit tasteless. Ambience is nice, there’s air conditioning, nice for getting work done with a drink but make sure they got your order right otherwise you get fed up...
Read moreProbably the best overall cafe in the city. Food is flawlessly executed, beautifully presented and downright delicious. Top 5 items: #1: gula melaka burnt cheese cake (10/10): #2: tiger prawn pasta in butter garlic (9.5/10): #3: lala spaghetti aglio olio (9/10): #4: sambal red snapper with nasi kerabu (9/10): #5: pulled beef nachos (9/10). Mention-worthy: teriyaki eel rice bowl (9/10): granola, yoghurt & pomegranate (9/10). Atmosphere was a solid 9/10. No Instagram-able rubbish, just simple, classy, welcoming and comfortable. And beside 3 large public carparks off Jonkers (that's worth 5 stars alone). Service was incredible. Efficient, knowledgeable, super friendly. But it's in between their serving us that we really noticed their "quality"...the supervisor, Siti (a Filipino lady) buzzed around tirelessly checking and rechecking customers' experiences...lol, she even found time to sweep their little carpark space outside the front door...first impressions obviously important to her and the cafe. Obviously a well-tuned operation backed up by great front and back of house staff! I unreservedly recommend anyone taking a trip to the city visit this oasis of calm comfort...
Read moreThe ambience is very soothing and comfy. Staff are respectful and soft spoken, able to recommend when asked for suggestion. Coffee is delicious, ordered rose latte and flat white. The food was delicious and the portion is really good. I am a big guy, so it is not an understatement when I say the portion is good.
Big breakfast have a good balance of taste sweetness from the vinaigrette to balance the bitterness of the leafy greens, sourness of the chickpeas with minced meat in tomato sauce to compliment the salty smoky flavour of the sausage and bacon. Last but not least, the scrambled egg and toasted bread to bring all the flavours together in perfect harmony. Long story short, sedaap/delicious/masshisoyeo/umaai.
The Pull beef egg benedict is also delicious. The perfectly cooked egg on the pulled beef and sourdough bread brings a plethora of umami into your mouth. It is savory. A perfect combo to go with the leafy greens provided in the middle of the plate. You can see it in the picture.
Dessert of Tiramisu Tart and burned cheese cake, sweetness is perfect to wrap up all the taste experiencing journey.
A great experience and joyful one too. Will be...
