I always seem to be able to sniff out the best coffee shop in town, but when it comes to coffee, your nose should be doing most of the work anyway. This is THE COFFEE SHOP in town, or as they call it, a "slow bar."
You want serious coffee? This is the place; there's no making regular coffee and calling it an "Americano." There's no confusing flat whites with cappuccinos. If you don't believe me, check the sign on the wall.
The shop is also filled with every coffee you need. There's V60s, Chemexs, coffee beans (Peruvian of course), and all sorts of small coffee accessories. Everything they sell they use at the shop, with the exception of the siphon, but you never know.
The service is on point, so don't expect speed as much as quality. There in no rush to serve coffee at the expense of it's preparation. It's served at the proper temps, with the proper glassware, and is always delicious.
The music is no laughing matter, switching back and forth between contemporary and classics. I've heard everything from Snow's Informer, to Becky G, and back to Selena, all in one sitting.
The seating is comfortable and they have a barcode on the wall that will automatically log you on to the Wi-Fi. There aren't power outlets all over the place, so make sure to come fully charged. I don't mind it so much because when I've used my entire battery it's usually time to go.
They also have food here, the best being the all day breakfast menu. Although, I have eaten lunch here as well, and it's on par with everything else.
It can get a little busy during peak hours, but there is a padded bench outside where you can be served or wait to be seated.
Overall, it's in my top 5 shops in the Americas, you everyone know I've been to a lot of coffee...
Read moreCame in and ordered the waffle with fruits and syrup, they took my order and sat me down, no problem. I sat there and patiently wait for more than 40 minutes, only for the waiter to come and tell me they don't have waffle anymore after having wait for so long. I visited their other location a few days back and knew that they take 15 minutes to make the waffle, and for me I am ok with waiting. But making someone to wait THAT long only to tell them "sorry we don't have it anymore" is just the worst service and communication ever. And this whole time the waiter was standing in front of the bar talking to people working behind the bar, when I pointed out that they could have told me sooner that they are out of waffles, the waiter just told me "sorry" and quickly disappeared into the back of the kitchen. Then they have a new waiter out in front of the bar who handed me the menu again like nothing have happened and like I haven't been sitting in their cafe for 40 minutes with nothing to eat or drink....
Read moreWe stumbled on this place as we were walking by on our last day in Cusco. We were pleasantly surprise to find they did a wide variety of third wave, single origin, local Peruvian coffees. Turns out their entire menu was good too...well we didn't try everything but everything we tried was great. The sandwiches use a white bread which feels like a home made bakery bread, not a cheap sandwich bread. The coffee was fantastic...one of the best I've had in Cusco. I got a syphon coffee which is a really unique and somewhat niche way of brewing coffee. The Barista did a perfect job and used a top quality Japanese syphon. The service was friendly...
