My wife and I are locals and we dine here on a regular basis. It is our favorite place here in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The pasta and pizza offerings are awesome! The salads are always made with good, fresh ingredients. The best item on the menu, in our opinion, is the pesto pizza with our favorite ingredients added. Liquor drinks, wine, taps and beer selections are good. Coke products on the fountain. Outdoor dining is best in the fall and spring. The downstairs dining room and outdoor patio are superb for people-watching over Cherry Street.
We keep Biblically kosher. When we ask any of our servers, "Are there any piggy-bits in that meat sauce?" they either tell what they know, and/or they go double-check with the chef. We've come to know this place for its honest answers and wonderful food and service!
Speaking of wonderful service: Moriah is the best. All the other servers at My Father's Pizza are wonderful, too. But, my wife and I have a favorite server, and her name is Moriah. She is a Professional server AND a Professional and creative bartender. Because she sets the standard, all the other servers are high quality as well. That's not flattery. It's just FACT. It's part of what makes this such a great, affordable restaurant in Black Mountain, NC, USA.
Two quirks common to Downtown Black Mountain: (1) Sometimes, parking can be a booger-bear! (2) The entrance, the bar and the restrooms are upstairs, and the dining room and kitchen are a flight of steps below. But the Black Mountain charm is all...
Read moreLocal resident, have been dining in at My Father’s for several years and was always very pleased with the pizza, sandwiches (Italian, Steak), meatballs, sausage, salads etc. Service also very attentive and friendly. Prices fair for the quality and portion size. However, I dropped my rating to 3 stars for the following reasons: On a recent visit, the pizza crust tasted different, it was “dry” and had a different texture, hard to describe why the taste to the tongue was just not the same. Kind of “cardboard” like. The hot Beef sandwich was truly awful, extremely over cooked / burned. I think it got “forgotten” on the flat top. When our check arrived, there was a 3 % surcharge for using a credit card. A small sign on the cash register announced this change......we have never paid at the register, the server always handled the check closing so we were shocked.
I will give them another chance, but to unbundle services ( add credit card surcharge) is unacceptable. It is part of the cost of doing business, and I doubt it is actually 3%. I do not carry cash as I have been robbed twice and cash is not recoverable......my advice to the owner / management is, price your product and services based on the value proposition, do not nickel and dime customers and blame the credit...

Let me start with this, the food was really good, and Kenzie was an awesome waitress. However, when I ordered my sandwich… I requested a Pastrami sub with “only lettuce and tomato. No mustard, onions, sauces or anything else. Just lettuce, tomato, and pastrami”.
When they brought out my sub, it had cheese on it. So I let them know and they took it back. They brought me a new sub and it had mustard on it the second time. So I sent it back again, and after coming to our table twice to clarify… they brought it out correctly.
The food was good, but another lady with red hair came to our table and instead of apologizing… she informed us that they were going to have to charge us for 2 pastrami subs! She claimed that “the customer did not read the menu properly”. So not only did they not offer to comp our meal… they tried to charge me and blame me for their mistake.
I never once yelled, and I was very kind to them because I know mistakes happen. But that lady was rude to us and had the audacity to claim that it was my fault! I left a $15 tip for Kenzie so she knew it was not her fault, but the other lady was extremely rude and unprofessional.
*I would like to talk to the owner of this restaurant because this is...
