A unique place to grab a drink on a nice summer Sunday evening while looking at the harbor. I have never been in such an outdoor bar before, so this was my first experience. Bartender Pat was nice, and quickly served one Margarita to me. It tasted too sweet but it was not a big deal. I was standing with my boyfriend watching soccer on TV when I noticed that two people had just left and I wanted to take their seats. There were a very narrow passage blocked by 5-6 people. I tried to bypass them walking around and was stopped by a bouncer. I tried to explain to him that I want to take those empty seats, but instead of offering help and walking me in he suddenly raised his voice and told me: “No, you have to go there”. Honestly, I didn’t understand what he was talking about, and where I could and could not walk with a drink. I was just trying to get to an empty seat. The passage was still blocked by 6 people who were talking loudly and facing the other direction. I am a really shy person and prefer not to interact to strangers -- that is why I tried to go 3-4 feet around the crowd to go under the chain to get to an empty seat. The bouncer grabbed my hand, pulled me back, took a drink away from me and told me in a harsh manner that I need to get away from there. He was really rude and I got scared. My boyfriend stepped in front of me and tried to explain the situation and argue with him but he didn’t want to listen. I am really disappointed with this situation and wouldn’t come back there again. I simply don’t understand why bouncers were so rude and couldn’t explain in a normal voice how to get to a seat and help the...
Read moreWas about to go in and enjoy a nice beer. Talked to the person at the gate and she was friendly. You can tell I'm old and joked with her saying I'm actually really young. Then some old dude who is miserable with his station in life started mouthing off to me about joking about being young. I sat down and he kept saying stuff so I asked him what his problem was. He said the ladies had a job to do and I said I offered to show my ID when though you can tell I'm 60. He kept saying stuff. I asked him what his problem was and did he treat everyone like that. Went to sit and grab a beer. Then thought hell no I'm not give them a dollar. Now granted my looks are deceiving. I would for one of the biggest financial companies in the US and we are bringing 20+ people to Boston. They asked me to scope out some places to go eat and drink after our conferences. Talk about losing thousands and I mean thousands of dollars. 2 weeks ago in Dallas we spent 7k for our conference. Sad because I really wanted to enjoy my first beer outside for my first time in Boston. I got up and left and told him there's no way I'm spending money there. His reply was sarcastic , hate to see you go. Well talk about losing big dollars because we are here...
Read moreI always love when I see The Landing open up for the season as it means summer is on the way. This outdoor bar is located in the touristy Long Wharf area of town, which means the area is packed with confused people who have forgotten how to function with other people. I have obviously been a tourist myself, and I know Boston can be confusing, so I expect people to be confused and ask questions, which is fine. It is the people who block entire sidewalks and will not move for people to walk by, or the people who walk around staring at their phone and bump into other people without apologizing, or the people who wait in line to buys tickets or order food, then take 15 minutes to order, even though they have been waiting in line for 20 minutes staring at the menu/ticket options. But I digress, The Landing is always crowded, a little pricey, and the drinks are weak. Even though it looks like fun, don't bother with the fishbowls as they are not worth the cost. That said, it is one of the few places in Boston where you can enjoy some drinks sitting by the water. The people watching is great, and on a sunny evening, it is a great cure for a long day of work, or a long day of...
