Chose to review based on second visit. Both times I chose the biscuits and gravy plate to compare. However, this go around I got a side pancake and no coffee. First visit I had coffee and million dollar bacon as add ons. Food portion was good for the main plate. We all seem to expect tons of food for a certain cost and I am guilty of that as well, but the main dish I felt was on par with almost every other place given the current environment we all are experiencing. That said, good flavor, right amount of food and cooked as ordered. Pancake was very good as well. Good flavor and good size... however, with that said, this is why I dropped one star for food. Going back to cost verses expectations... I would think they could charge half of the cost for the pancake, not the close to $7 bucks. Maybe even just $4. None the less it was a good pancake. ;) I didn't get coffee this time due simply because of price. I will leave that as it is. Service was great. The young lady was great and gave me time to make a choice. The atmosphere is ok. Nothing to make it stand out from other places really. Clean and enough space to enjoy the food. I'll be back for sure. See what else I can try next time.
I also noticed that replies to reviews seem to have been slowed down the last several months. I appreciate when owners or management take time to acknowledge good and bad reviews. More so the bad ones, whether or not the poster/reviewer reaches out if asked. At least to me it shows you are acknowledging a possible error and are willing to correct it.
Thanks for reading. And again, I will be back!
Edit: went twice since review. Avocado toast is bomb!!! The shrimp and grits was not as good as it sounded. It fell short of...
Read moreThe host who greeted us was pleasant and sat us right away in a corner booth. Then, we waited, and waited, and waited for a good 20+ minutes before we were even greeted by a female server. A male server tended to the booth next to ours (which arrived well after us) and after his second visit to them, I inquired about when we would even be greeted by a server. He told us he noticed and would get our server. My daughter, who has worked as a server, ironically at a different First Watch in the past, even remarked at how unprofessionally long the wait was during a time when it was a semi-empty restaurant. We happened to notice we were the only ones dealing with this issue and the only people of color in the restaurant at the time. I don't want to think that was the reason for the unprofessionalism, but it's hard to ignore microaggressions. My daughter also went to ask when we would be waited on. The server eventually came and said she wasn't notified we were seated, but it wasn't busy and we were in plain view and she tended to a nearby table, so I don't know what to believe. She was apologetic, offered free drinks, but it left a very bad impression and taste (pardon the pun) in our mouths -- the reason for the three stars. We did get our food quickly after that. It was very good and the quality we come to expect from First Watch. The other part of the experience would be a reason we will likely not...
Read moreWow! Before today, I had never been to this location of First Watch, but it will not be the last time I go! I’ll get to the food in a minute, but first, you need to know that the restaurant is bright and clean, and seating is such that you are not right on top of your neighbor like some of the smaller locations. There is plenty of aisle space, and we were able to have a private conversation without thinking we were being overheard elsewhere.
That said, I’d go back for the people and the food. While I’ve never met a First Watch crew that wasn’t fantastic, somehow this group seemed even above those expectations. There was definite teamwork among the staff. Connor was the boss today and gave me the type of seating I specifically asked for, even though I tend to think the section might have been closed. And Rian served us WELL. Anything we asked for, we were given immediately, and it was served with a smile.
Lastly… The food! We split a Carne Asada hash plate and we’re both more than satisfied. The flavor of the dish was spectacular. It was well presented, and like I said there was plenty of it. Unfortunately, for us, that dish is only a seasonal item , but I think it’s worth going back before early March so I can enjoy it again. The meat was so very tender, and the hash was perfectly done… Crispy on one side tender on the other of potato.
Go see them, & tell them I sent you… You...
