We stopped in around noon and had an amazing experience thanks to our server, the bartender, and the host. The food was phenomenal, and our server truly went above and beyond despite being clearly overwhelmed. A convention across the street had just let out, and the restaurant quickly filled up with guests, but these three handled it with professionalism, hustle, and great attitudes. That said, it was really disappointing to see the lack of support from management or ownership. They were present in the restaurant but seemed more focused on taking photos of food and drinks (I’m guessing for social media) and just standing around rather than jumping in to help their team. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, it was frustrating to watch staff struggle while leadership stood by. Huge kudos to the front-of-house crew who kept things running despite being short-handed, they truly made the experience memorable. I just hope management shows up for them next time in the ways that matter most.

Headed to the public house before a concert and couldn't have been more satisfied. We were fortunate to sit at the bar with the best bartender. He concocted the best drinks, gave suggestions, always checked in, and kept busy. One bartender (woman with dark straight hair) didn't quite do as well. She broke 3 glasses and when I asked for water after she asked if we needed anything-- she directed me to a water dispenser at the entrance. šŸ™„ Meanwhile other bartenders served their guests glasses of water when they asked. Food came out at different times, but we were not in a rush. I love when places do this as opposed to letting ones food sit, get cold, bland, etc. I had a burger and hubs had fish and chips. So delicious šŸ˜‹. Will definitely head back here if ever downtown CLT. All the TVs make for great ambiance during game time. Thank you for treating us. Loved the Plan B. Loved the habanero infused tequila. šŸ‘ŒšŸ½

I attended the the Panthers game with my family yesterday as we were walking back to the hotel we decided to give this place a shot. They wanted to sit outside..ok cool Oh you have to order at the bar because there is not any wait staff...what? Food is delivered by a runner who then pulls a disappearing act.. The menu is at best decent with some strange listings The family ordered...food came Appetizer sized portions.. I cook for a living so I look at plates a little differently.. Not impressed with what came out.. I ordered the cabbage rolls and they were horrible..chewy, stringy and lacking flavor of any kind.. They looked good but that is where the story ends.. I wanted to send them back but my brother said just forget it and don't worry about it. Let's not ruin the day.. Here's a pic of the rolls and I have the other pic of what I refused to swallow if need be. Never again...

Let me preface my review by saying, I came to public house on 5/14 after a long night and ordered a drink and food. Spent about 45 buck for that but whatever. World we live in now. I DID NOT GET CARDED the entire hour I was there spoke with two different bartenders. And spoke about drinks…. ID never came up. My experience on 5/15 was totally different after deciding to revisit with my father who drove 6 hours and waited to eat on my word this place was good. Now I am of color as well as look younger, however I’m about to be 30 years old and have never experienced what I did last night. I was carded at the door, twice might I add when the white guy in front of me flashed his ID and walked straight in. Granted idc, guys just doing his job. I thought it was strange since i have a full face of facial hair and the white guy didn’t but whatever i can get over that. We get inside and head straight to order, they’re packed and no one spoke to us despite looking at us several times. Eventually the bartender who served me on 5/14 said he’d be right with us. However, we noticed outside was relatively clear so we head outside and sit there. A different guy at the bar asks for my ID AGAIN. Granted we just came for food never asked for a drink or anything. I said we were just inside but I’m pulling my ID out to show him anyway until the guy who served me on 5/14 told his coworker as well, that we were just inside and he says oh okay. I look at my father and say ā€œdo I really look that young man Jeezeā€. Dude gets the meanest attitude like I called him out his name. I look at him and tell him I was having a private conversation, not that a paying customer should have to explain to him that he wasn’t talking to you anyway. But instead of saying ā€œmy bad man, I have to card everyone that comes upā€ and laughing with us, because it’s a valid question to the person who’s watched me mature for the last almost 30 years. This guy pulls the menu from my dad and tells us we can go to another bar. No reason given.

I’m curious what the outcome of a social experiment would be with camera glasses between a white customer, and a black customer. I’m sure a discrimination lawsuit will be filed against them at some point. Then they’ll wish they didn’t deny service to people of color for no other reason besides that. Other reviews have had similar experiences so a discrimination class action sounds nice. We’ll see. I see these businesses have learned nothing from other places exposed for racism on YouTube with millions of views and going bankrupt. Either way I’m sure you’ll be seeing my name on some paperwork at some point, good luck with your business.

Update: Says a lot that the owner is more concerned about his employees lack of checking an ID and not the accusations of racism. Keep your subpar bar bro, I’ll go somewhere and spend my green money where my black skin is accepted. Still am gonna do that social experiment though šŸ˜€. I’d advise you to speak to your employees before you get more bad publicity....

I am very disappointed with my first and last interaction with this establishment, and I use the term establishment lightly. I get it you have a certain clientele and you’re busy enough you may think you don’t need any other type of clientele to be successful, well the experience I had tonight visiting my son for the first time in his new city and congratulating him on his new job was not going to celebrated in your establishment one of your bartenders asked us to leave your establishment because we are the clientele your establishment apparently does not need. He was very comfortable telling us to leave after he was commenting to us about a private conversation we had concerning your poor service. We walk in to the entrance was ID’d as we expected, my son said he was there last night he wanted me to enjoy the experience he had previously we had to order at the bar, we stood at the bar approximately 5 min or more before anyone acknowledged us, one of your bartenders finally came over and said hey guys I will be with you, after a few minutes we decided it was not the busy outside we would go outside to the same bartenders that was too busy inside. We sat down and one rude bartender asked my son for ID again, my son just stated hey I’m the same person that was standing inside about 30 seconds ago. The bartender then stated hey Bro( I think cause my son is Black) you can go some where else, my son stated he was just carded at the door, then your other bartender acknowledged he had just walked around a few seconds ago, that is when this rude bartender look me in the face and my son and said you guys can leave I’m not serving you. I have never been asked to leave an establishment in my life by anyone and I’m 57 years old. This felt like something straight out Remember the Titans bar scene. You atmosphere was very telling when I walked in but my son wanted to believe that this establishment was not going to allow this type of treatment that can even be perceived as anything but unbiased. Well that did not happen, I hope ownership finds a way to address this issue, intent is not the issue, your a business that is obligated to hire professional employees...

Read management’s snarky response to other customers with similar experiences to ours and you will see where the problem lies…

I’m writing this review because in addition to the offensive treatment of our family and our girls, our final bill included charges for drinks we ordered but never received, and a mandatory 20% gratuity of over $100 for a waitress who abandoned us before the food came out so she could attend other tables.

We went with family and friends for a 13 year old girl’s birthday party. The night was a calamity of errors by the restaurant. Service was non-existent, orders were incorrect, and some people never got their food at all.

My 12 year old daughter’s milk allergy was scoffed at by a manager who accused her of not ordering correctly, and accused me that - and I quote’ ā€œthe first thing out of your mouth shows you’re misinformed about our restaurant’s policiesā€ - all before walking off without addressing or fixing the issue of cheese on my anaphylactic-milk-allergic daughters food. I’ve never been spoken to like this by anyone in a professional setting.

Ownership and Management was defensive, aggressively rude, belittling and incompetent.

One manager made an honest effort to make things right and I hate to write this review in spite of his efforts but the treatment by our waitress and other managers cannot go unaddressed. I would like to thank the one level-headed guy for doing his best to make things better but sadly his team’s incompetence and belligerence was too much to overcome. I actually felt bad for him by the end of the night.

When it was finally over we felt we had been taken advantage of and punished for trying to get our food and bills right.

We are disputing the charges with the bank and will ensure that the mandatory tip is not paid, and items we did not receive are not paid for either.

Hopefully management doesn’t post a snide comment to my review but it seems from other reviews like this - they honestly...
