I was really excited to try this place out. I visited yesterday and was left disappointed. One of my favorite seafood comfort dishes is fish n chips so I decided to try it here. A big mistake!
First, the fish was GREASY. So unless you like your fish drenched in oil, I would avoid ordering this. I used napkins to to remove the oil.
Next, the fish tasted just ok. I was like the cook almost burnt the fish and instead of making a fresh batch served it anyway. However it was my first time here, so maybe all of the fish taste like like that.
Up next let’s talk about the fries. I never avoid eating fries, because I really enjoy eating French fries. These fries were not good at all. I tried two and left the rest on the platter.
The only good thing? Surprisingly the only thing I really liked was a side! The fish n chips came with a side and I selected the mixed veggies.
Whatever sauce they use tasted great. It was just a mix of onions, broccoli and carrots. And it tasted better than the fish n chips.
Moral of this story. Don’t order the fish n chips unless you want burnt, oily fish. I heard the ceviche was pretty good, so try that instead or really anything else.
There are also a ton of other vendors and restaurants. The next time I visit I will give one of the other restaurants a...
Read moreRex’s Seafood and Market was a little disappointing. I may need to stick to the other location on NW Hwy. I had a better experience there.
The stand is located near an entry/exit door. Therefore, it gets a little warm sitting there to eat at the picnic style tables.
This review covers two separate visits. The first visit, I went during happy hour. I had the Ceviche and a Frose. Keep in mind that I eat Ceviche often. I feel like I have a good grasp of what good ceviche looks and tastes like. Their version did not measure up. I’m used to it arriving tableside looking picturesque. That was not the case. I didn’t taste much lime. The Siracha sauce was over powering the other flavors. The shrimp were small also.
The frose was hard to drink. I usually like it but it was kind of bitter.
My second visit I had the Lobster Roll. Again, I’ve tried a few, and this one was decent. It seemed to have a piece of claw meat on top and the rest was shredded. I wanted Connecticut style but they didn’t ask me. The lobster was tender and the bread was soft. Not bad , but not great. The fries were super salty.
Overall, I rate the sandwich a 3 but the restaurant a 2. If you want a quick Lobster Roll while at the Farmers Market, check out Rex’s...
Read moreVisited this restaurant for the first time today for brunch. I ordered the crab and shrimp chips as an appetizer and they were AMAZING! The reason I gave a 3 star review was because the service was subpar and some of the waiters helping our waitress were rude. I ordered the d town fry from the brunch menu and an order of candied bacon, and was told that d town fry wasn’t available. I then ordered the steak & eggs with home fries and was told that those were the 2 things on the menu that they did not have in stock but everything else was available. I finally ordered the crab pasta, which had the potential to be very tasty but it did not have enough sauce on it in my opinion. I asked about my candied bacon again, since it was forgotten, and was brought out regular bacon. I asked if they still had the candied bacon, which my waitress asked the other waiter that was helping her, and with an attitude, his response was “we only have that for the Bloody Mary”, as he shook his head like he was annoyed and walked away. My visit today could have been a lot more positive and enjoyable if the other staff helping were friendlier but other than that, I will visit again, but more than likely a...
