10/24 UPDATE! Call me stupid but I believed that this place must have changed after the years and thought I’d give it another try. Bad decision!!!!!!! We ordered takeout and one of the menu items was scalloped potatoes. They delivered our meal and the receipt said scalloped potatoes. However, when my friend took a bite, the disgusting item served was certainly not potatoes but something unidentifiable!!!! I called the kitchen and they declared that potatoes were not on the menu, even though the receipt said that’s what they’d served. They said no one who worked in the kitchen was there. I did not believe this was true because we had just gotten our meal and the restaurant was still open and serving food! I took the food by and they started claiming it was not potatoes then claiming it was. There was no apology and they looked almost smug. They declared that nothing else in their menu would’ve looked remotely like a potato or like that so they weren’t really sure what it was. Well, a couple of weeks later I saw some photos online with a description of chitterlings. It looked exactly like what they’d served my vegetarian friend while claiming it was potatoes! Chitterlings were not even a menu item so I guess employees had brought them in from who knows where. This place needs to be shut down and I hope it is!!!!!!! It is not a safe place for anyone to eat at. If they’d do this to us then who knows what of all else they are doing to people’s food! Take my advice and choose a different restaurant.
Older review: This was a filthy and disgusting place! I’d never go back! If I could rate below one star then I would. Our experience at this place started when we were seated at a filthy table that was covered with gooey grime. They made us wait to have someone come from the back and wipe it off after we complained, even though there were numerous unoccupied tables that were cleaner. We waited forever to place our order, and then waited forever again for the food to be prepared. They took an unreasonable amount of time preparing our food, and we watched numerous other diners come in, order, eat, and leave before our food was ever brought out. When the food was finally brought out, it was ice cold. It was below room temperature, as if it had just came out of the fridge. We left after that, even though the manager came out and offered with a rather cool attitude to heat...
Read moreCame to Jo's with the recommendation of a local. When I looked up directions it showed the restaurant being a lot busier than normal so I assumed I'd have to wait and it must be good. When I arrived, it was a ghost town. Only one couple in the establishment. From the outside, it looks very plain. Once you walk in, it was the old school 50s or 60s vibe with the floor, decor, etc. It could have better lighting. I was welcomed right away and the waitress was fantastic, very personable, checked on you just enough to make sure your drink stayed fill and everything was alright. She did an amazing job. Now, to the food. I was extremely disappointed. Being that you know they make it to order in a diner, and local diners are always known for great food, this fell way below my expectations. The app was indeed cheesy, but so much so, they were uneatable. The cheesesteak and fries should be easy enough to make, especially considering there were only 2 tables with patrons in the entire restaurant. Well, the fries were undercooked and still raw in the middle, I ate them anyway since you won't get sick eatting a raw potato, but I couldn't finish the fries. Then the cheesesteak....the bun is way to large and hard for a Philly steak, and I know, because I grew up in Philly. The steak, instead on being shaved thin steak was like tough steak nuggets placed on the sandwich with barely enough cheese to call it a cheesesteak. This will sound harsh, but with the 100s of cheesesteaks I've eaten across the country, this is without question, the worst one I've ever had. Finally, if it couldn't get worse. I ordered a chocolate shake for dessert. The shake was good, but at $7 for a 16oz shake, its a rip off. Avoid the shake and go to a fast food place and get same quality shake, twice as big, for less. Now I don't like to give bad reviews, and I hope it is taken as constructive criticism. I am sure their breakfast is amazing as all the reviews say and maybe just an off day, but based on this visit, I have to say avoid Jo's for dinner, but if you do go, please avoid the cheesesteak and...
Read moreJo’s Diner quality has gone down dramatically. I am giving this place one star because I could not give a zero star or a negative number. This place is right now in a contest for the best restaurant in Flowood, MS, but unless it is the only place running in a particular category, there is no chance for this place to win any award. The last time I was there, October 26th, I asked for a medium-rare Steak & Eggs (overeasy) with hashbrowns and beignets, my favorite for brunch. To my dissapointment, the steak wasn’t medium rare, it was almost well done, and the eggs were not overeasy, they were almost entirely fried. Not good, yet I ended up eating, I was starving. Today, Sunday January 5th, 2020; I came back for brunch and this is what I found: 1) I stood in line for half an hour even though there were empty tables in all sections of the place. 2) There were tables not been cleaned for more than 10 minutes... well I had to do something while standing there, right?. 3) When taken to the table, finally, it took the waiter about 5 minutes to show up and ask what would be the drink, black coffee as usual... then, after 5 more minutes coffee came and I could order, guess what? Steak and eggs: eggs over easy and steak, medium rare, with hashbrowns and a side order of beignets. 4) After some 20 minutes, coffee is gone, I asked for some more coffee, then the waiter came back with the beignets, no coffee, and apologizing because they ran out of steaks... really? She was rude enough to even suggest that we couldorder something else from the menu. Just said no thanks, stood up, and left the place to go next door to Panera for whatever good stuff they may have. I finally did not know if they really had no steaks left (which is very hard for me to believe because this is one of the flagship items in the menu), or whether all this was because I am a latino male... Honestly, if there were no steaks left before noon on a Sunday, poor poor quality; now if they were not intending to serve a Hispanic guy, this...
