DO NOT RECOMMEND AND THIS IS WHY: STAFF ARE DISRESPECTFUL Last month, my wife and I went into Recycle Sports to buy complete set ups. We had just relocated from Australia and needed everything. We asked the staff member ā a young man with dark hair and fair skin ā a few questions about their products. His tone was impatient and patronising. We felt like a nuisance. After buying two boards, two sets of bindings, two helmets, two pairs of gloves, two pairs of boots, and paying two assembly fees, the staff member begrudgingly assembled our bindings/boards. By then, it was 10 minutes to closing time and he couldnāt have made it clearer in his behaviour that he wanted us out of the store. Again, we felt like a nuisance and we had just paid $1550 USD. This staff memberās behaviour was not directed solely at us. A family walked in at 4:50pm, and he told them: āWeāre about to close guys so you probably want to come back tomorrow.ā The family looked understandably shocked and immediately left. Today, I phoned the store because the leather mitts we purchased (brand new) were soaked through after 2 hours on the mountain. The gloves were $50 per pair (the same price as Kinco or Burton mitts) so we expected them to perform better against snow. The same staff member (we recognised his voice) told me: āyou get what you pay for.ā When I replied that $50 is not ācheapā for a pair of gloves, the staff member said it is, and that he would not refund them. We asked the staff member if we could be put in touch with the owners, Steve or Jan. He refused to give us their contact details, or to pass our details along to them. He said that Steve and Jan wouldnāt care about our experience and that the couple is too busy with their other businesses. After that, the staff member hung up on us. We called back, thinking the call was disconnected. But the staff member clarified that he did in fact hang up on us. He then hung up on us again. Weāve never been treated so badly in our lives. STORE UNLAWFULLY DOES NOT GUARANTEE ITS GOODS (NEW OR USED) The staff member told us that Recycle Sports does not refund or exchange in ANY circumstance, even if the brand new goods are faulty or not performing as expected. This is unlawful under the Consumer Bill of Rights concerning defective products. The bill clearly states that if a product is significantly defective, broken, or doesn't meet the seller's advertising, consumers may have a right to a refund or other remedies like repair or replacement. We purchased the Altitude Boardwerx gloves (Adult āButterā Pigskin Mittens.ā On the manufacturerās website (altitudeboardwerx.com), the manufacturer clearly states that the mitts are āwaterproof.ā Therefore, Recycle Sports are violating the Consumer Bill of Rights where it concerns defective products. The staff member told us that their policy is displayed around the store. Unfortunately we did not notice the signs during our purchase ā Iām not sure how since we were in store for an hour and apparently āthe signs are everywhere.ā If we had noticed the signs, we would have immediately left. No reasonable person purchases goods from a retailer who makes a point of deviating from the countryās standard return/refund policy. PRODUCTS ARE LOW QUALITY In addition to our new gloves soaking through, the brand new bindings were purchased are already coming apart after 3 uses. The brand new goods sold at Recycle Sports are low quality. I assume that is why the owners/manager have made a point of deviating from the countryās standard return/refund policy. NO RECOURSE FOR POOR EXPERIENCE As mentioned, when we asked to be put in touch with owners, Steve and Jan, the staff member refused. He also refused to give us his first name. That was right before he hung up on us twice. This is a second violation of the Consumer Bill of Rights. According to the bill, consumers have the right to express their concerns and complaints to a businesses and to have their issues addressed. FAR BETTER OPTIONS...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to shop here every year for our annual spring Break ski trip, but no more, I will not be back. The customer service provided by the owner of the store has progressively gotten worse over the years. Not by his staff -- they are fine, it is him that is the problem. Last year, my son needed assistance with finding bindings for his snow board and the owner didn't want to be bothered by us -- he was too busy hanging up several jackets that somebody had brought in. This year, my daughter was trying on jackets and the owner made us feel so awful that it sealed the deal on us never returning to this store. She tried on maybe ten jackets. We carefully hung them back where we found them but didn't zip them up. The owner came right behind us and tore each jacket from where it was hanging and slammed them over the rack and jerked the zipper up with great exaggeration. He was mad. Now I have worked retail for years while in college and straightening, zipping and buttoning is part of the job, not the customer's job. He should be happy we didn't leave the jackets in heaps on the fitting room floor. They were right where we found them, hanging nicely, but without being zipped.
An analogy of how he makes his customers feel is like being an invited guest in somebody's home but being made to feel like everything you ask or do is seen as an annoyance by your host. My husband and I are business owners and we cannot fathom how he thinks it is okay to treat his customers so poorly. After this incident, I told my daughter "Let's get out of here." We drove over to Breeze and happily paid $300 for items and services that we could never get at Recycle Sports.
The owner needs a careful look in the mirror. Maybe he is taking aggression out in the wrong places, I don't know his story. All I know is that I don't deserve to be treated so horribly and while I have a choice in where I shop, it will not be a place that makes me feel so poorly while I am there,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience here was so weird. First of all, thereās very little organization and poor signage, so itās not easy to figure out whatās going on.
So I wanted to ask a one quick question about something that wasnāt marked with a price and the only employee who wasnāt helping another customer was this one guy working on installing a computer sensor on a bike wheel. I stood next to him for a few moments and politely tried to get his attention. Without looking up from his work, he mumbled āif ypu need something to go talk to one of the three other employees.ā I look around. Thereās no one else in the shop except for customers at that moment. I then ask who he was talking about? He says āI donāt know isnāt there someone else? If I donāt focus on what Iām doing Iāll never get it doneā and continued to ignore me.
Finally I was able to ask someone else and he said the item I was asking about wasnāt for sale. Even though itās right on the floor next to the sign for what it was.
And to cap it off, as Iām leaving, some other customer walks up tot the water pitcher thatās sitting there for people to fill their bottles. One employee yells āstop! Donāt drink from that i donāt know how old the water is in thereā
So to summarize, they are rude, they display used equipment thatās not for sale, and they leave old water out that they are afraid might not be good enough to...
