EDIT UPDATE: The customer I’m referring to us the one who came in for the bayonet. I was privy to the entire (10 second) conversation with this customer as I was right behind him. And frankly if you’ve been recognized and trained as you stated in your response - you should know better. I’m dropping my review to one star as a result.
Finally, you’re missing the point. My criticism wasn’t of the CUSTOMERS seeking items. It was of your lack of customer service and downright rudeness towards your potential customers. You really should learn to take the honest critiques in these reviews as constructive criticism and better your behavior, and thus your business practices. One only needs to read these reviews to see you definitely need a refresher course on customer service and positive business practices. I’m not being argumentative; rather if you had read my original review with an ounce of humility, you’d realize I was trying to be helpful, to both you and your customers. Good luck to you Colleen. I believe you’ll most certainly need it.
The quantity and variety of items here are amazing. Lots of memorabilia and history in the store. My husband and I were very put off by the two older ladies working today. A man came in looking for a specific item. After first telling him he’d have to look around, a man (owner maybe?) came out and graciously offered to show the customer around. Simultaneously, the two older ladies began to chastise the customer, loudly remarking he shouldn’t have come in and asked them if they had a specific item. One even said, “I’m going to go to the grocery store and do that - tell them exactly what I’m looking for”. I’m unsure why these ladies were at the front of the store if not for customer service? Obviously they should seek other employment. Their derision and downright rudeness to customers is unforgivable. It’s a shame because this store has many dealers who place their items in consignment. I wonder how they would feel knowing potential customers are being treated this way? Bottom line - we will patronize one of the many other antique stores in Gettysburg where we are treated with kindness...
Read moreRecently my family traveled to Gettysburg and went to this store as our first stop. We only had about an hour to shop as the note on door said closing at 5:30. I was able to look at one case of jewelry but definitely had the impression that I needed to know exactly what I wanted before case was opened. I was interested in several of the pieces (this dealer that was not on premises would have had some great sales!) The two salespeople in the store were an older man and woman. If you have shopped here u know that 95% of merchandise is locked in cases. With 2 people covering an entire store this does not work. As we were checking out we inquired about other shops in the area with not much of any reply. We returned to this store the next day hoping to have a better experience. It was actually worse than the first with two different women working. They again decided to close early and were not happy about opening cases well before the advertised time of closing. If you are closing early on a regular basis you may want to update your hours online. You may also want to work on your personalities as every person in my family felt unwelcome...
Read moreI visited this store a few weeks ago during a snow storm. I visited them and came back after getting sweets from bakeries nearby. The owners were very kind to help me with the directions. I had such a fun time looking at the downstairs and upstairs. Upstairs has music stuff. Cds and records. I found a good deal on a cd that I wanted. I was very thrilled to find the adorable black salt and pepper cat also from the showcase. It was close to closing, but the owners were so polite and let me look at items in the showcases. They have so much military items and toy soldiers like my uncle Daniel used to collect when he was alive. You well enjoy your visit going back in time and finding and bringing home a treasure. They even had very old helmets and military uniforms which was so cool. So many people go to gettysburg to see the history. Now they can bring a piece of it home with them. I look forward to finding more items to check out. I came about an hour away. Totally worth the snow for seeing the nice items. One thing that i also liked is that they said let me know if there is anything that I can help you with. I felt valued and appreciated...
