Let me provide a timeline of a series of unfortunate events:
5:30 tried to call in an order, the woman disconnected from us, never called back, and then the line was busy for the next 18 calls
6:15 we finally get our order placed and told the food would be ready in 45 minutes
7:00 we arrive and the lady simply explains that it’s not ready yet, we ask how long, and she just walks away without an answer
7:15 I check in about the food and the woman brushes me off and pretended to answer a non ringing phone to look busy
7:30 I check in again explaining we are on a time crunch, and it’s been a half hour that we have been waiting, and the woman states there are two items left on our 8 item order
7:45 My girlfriend checks in to see how long it would take explaining we have now had our order placed for an hour and a half. The woman working instantly snaps and yells at my girlfriend telling her she already told me 2 items. That was 15 minutes ago and means nothing. How long will this take? She yelled at my girlfriend to cancel the order and cursed her alllll in front of customers. Needless to say, we walked out due to such unprofessional behavior. We were patient and accommodating without explanation continuously.
Mind you, during our 45 minute wait at the restaurant alone, 5 couples came through at the entrance, were never tended to, and walked out. Additionally, there were 4 tables with seated guests who were never tended to once during our wait. Last but not least, the only food that went out during our wait was to go food for a couple who came in after us but waiting 30 minutes extra for 2 items.
These folks are short staffed which we understand can be challenging but were not given proper expectations before ordering. We were told 45 minutes. An hour and a half later, the food still wasn’t ready. Not to mention, the staff’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Disrespect is inexcusable. Keep your money and your taste buds moving from this place. I know Gettysburg doesn’t have much outside of American, but if you’re planning on Thai, you’re better off to bring it and cook it yourself! Halloween is coming so future customers beware of...
Read moreI've eaten here a few times and the food is good. I have a few issues with the place, however.
When you can get service, the owner can be annoying. It's nice to be friendly, but I don't want to have to entertain you if I come to your restaurant to eat. Please just say hello and then let me eat in peace.
Twice I've come in and found no one in the restaurant, even after calling out. Then I went back today for lunch. The sign said they open at noon on Sunday, so I waited until about 10 after 12 and found the door locked. Oh well. I ended up getting a delicious panini at Seasons Cafe about half a block away.
UPDATE: So I went back today (7/1/12) with my husband, our adult daughter, and a friend. We ordered our food, and after awhile my daughter's food came out. It was cold, so she took it back to be reheated. Then my husband's food and my food came out, and eventually my daughter's food came back, along with our friend's order.
I had ordered my curry extra spicy. What I got was colorless, tasteless, and bland, as was my husband's. We asked the server if it was supposed to be spicy, so she offered to bring us some spices. She brought out a tray with three different containers of stuff we couldn't recognize and walked away. We experimented with it awhile and finally when she came back, we asked her what was what.
After spicing up the food a bit, we ate our lunch. We won't be back, however, nor will I ever be able to recommend this place to any of our family, friends,...
Read moreGreat little Thai spot in Gettysburg! The location is great and the place inside is wonderful too. Nice cozy feel to it. I went with a pretty decent sized group, and they were able to accommodate us nicely. We did have to wait a decent amount of time, and the food was served at varying times, but I understand they probably aren’t that used to groups of 8-10 coming in at once.
I got to try their pad see ew with tofu, the Thai iced tea, and the pad Thai with seafood. The pad see ew was quite good. A tad bit on the spicy side for me, even though I selected a very low spice level. It was still quite good. A nice amount of sauce, tofu, and vegetables.
The seafood pad Thai was also pretty good. The seafood tasted decent, although the person I shared it with thought it was a little too chewy and not the best quality. Also a pretty good flavor to it. The portion was better for the pad Thai than the pad see ew.
I loved the Thai iced tea. It was actually so, so good, and maybe my favorite item of the night. It was perfectly sweet with a lovely touch of smokiness. Amazing portion too. This place is great with refilling drinks too (the water).
All in all, a very nice spot. I had a nice meal for a reasonable price, and the location is great too. I would come back and recommend it for a solid...
