Overall: 4.2/5 (take out)
I ordered through their website which is through Clover. It said that it would take 40 minutes to make but I came after 50 minutes and still had to wait another 5 minutes or so.
Hawaiian Sun Lilikoi Lychee ($1.90): Light lychee flavor but it tastes like I'm eating the actual lychee. Wild. It did take a few sips for me to adjust so it does grow on you.
Taro Turnover ($3.25): OMG, this is the best taro turnover I've ever had! This is so unique to Hawaii as well. I tried the McDonald's taro pie in Hawaii and wished they had it in the U.S. but I couldn't find anything like it here until now. The turnover is huge and was packaged separately in its own box. The pastry was still warm by the time I got home. I fell in love with the first bite. The turnover was so flakey, the taro frosty was delicious (I was licking it off the parchment paper - TMI), and the taro cubes inside were sweet. I need to come back to try their other turnovers!
The Manapua Man Special ($8.99): The portion size is big so it's worth the price. The fried saimin was very bland so I added Sriracha. It was on the drier side too which I'll take over oily noodles. The manapua is a Hawaiian version of the pork bun. The pork is light in flavor but airs on the sweeter side. The bao itself is soft & fluffy. The best thing about this special is the pork hash which is the equivalent of a shu mai but without the shrimp. It's super flavorful, juicy, & delicious.
Side of Meat Jun ($5.99): Meat jun is basically beef dipped in egg. This meat jun was so much better than the mochiko chicken so I'm surprised they don't offer this in any of their combo/special plates. The beef was tender. What's interesting is that most of the flavor was in the egg which I loved. This was my favorite out of everything I ate (except for dessert).
Mochiko Chicken Bowl ($5.99) With All Mac Salad ($0.50): The mochiko chicken looks like chicken karaage but with a very thin batter. The flavor light & on the sweeter side. Some pieces of chicken were soft while others were hard. They put the chicken on a thin layer of cabbage. I think if they topped off the chicken & cabbage with a sauce or even just furikake, they would have tasted better. Unfortunately they forgot my mac salad so I lost out on $1.50. I called the restaurant to let them know, and they said they will let the manager know so we'll see if I get that...
Read moreGenuine Aloha vibes from this place. Guarantee family owned because how personal they are with every guest. Food is honestly nothing special but their portions make up for it. Js Bento is a common go to just because it is portioned generously. Inside Js bento… Mochiko chicken is done well, not overly sweetened. Not a fan of their TeriBeef. Runs on the thick, tough side. I feel they cut their own beef from a cheaper part of the cow rather than using the traditional thin tender rib-eye cut. Noodles is good, reminds me of manapua truck fried noodles. Pork hash is just like every other Hawaii restaurant in Vegas using more ground beef rather than using ground pork, altering the taste. Their pork hash gives off more of a meatball taste/texture due to using more beef than pork. Their Lau Lau seems to be homemade and it’s really good. I’m positive it’s not store brand and you can taste it in the leaves. Make sure to check the prices in house, not the website because the website prices are wrong. The Hawaiian Plate on their website showed the same price as a Lau Lau plate so of course I rather get the plate with more for the same price but when I arrived at the restaurant it ended being $4 more than what was advertised on their website. So just a heads up not to trust the website prices. Next on my list to try is Korean Fried Chicken/Fried Chicken and Meat Jhun. The owner, sweet Aunty (forgot her name) gave me a complimentary malasadas and it was so good!!! Everytime I go back though it’s either sold out or not available. I believe only Fridays n weekends they serve it. All in all the vibe of their welcoming and Aloha spirit is what makes me keep going back. They really treat everyone like family and it is hard to find genuine service like that nowadays. Mahalos to...
Read moreGO HERE! Dont wait, just do it! (Prices are reasonable and you can definitely get full under 10$) id give this place 10 stars if I could ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Original: The pastele was wonderful, exactly what id expect. The long john was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff.
Edit: The staff is amazing! So friendly warm and inviting, they were out if mochi cake when we came to try it and we were so disappointed but they told us they'd put some aside for us the next day so we came back and they had it rdy for us and it was a dream 🙌 Even better than the mochi cubes I tried in japan!
Ive been back a few times now and everything is so good! Ahi tuna tacos are bomb! Mochi cake?! Amazing! And the chocolate version too! Jello creamsicle! 👀 Wow! Hawaiian blend coffee 👍 tuna poke 🤤 I can't wait to try more deserts and eat all the ahi tuna I can afford xP definitely recommend the hawaiian plate if you want authentic but you're not sure what to get since it includes a few different things but it is a lot of food so maybe share? If you like sushi then the ahi tuna dishes are for you. Musubi is also a simple classic, I recommend the spam version but the pork belly is more of a sweet flavor if you're into that. Most of the dishes come with a lot of food so I've started ordering things individually instead of the meals so I don't get full on rice 😅
I've tried a lot of things now and so far the only thing Im not into is the chow fun, if you love chow fun and are used to getting it a certain way, you might be disappointed. If you've never had chow fun, then it might be fine 😅 but idk if anyone is rly coming to a Hawaiian place for chow fun, get...
