This is more a review of a certain third party staff than the actual venue (The bartenders are wonderful. And the vibe itself is terrific.)
This is actually about homophobic rants and blatant disregard for the validity of certain relationships over others.
It began two weekends ago on a Saturday night. My girlfriend and I were sitting at the bar (had been enjoying ourselves for an hour or two at this point), when the bouncer/door man, Adrian, came from his post, into the bar area and directly sought out my girlfriend. Tapping her on the shoulder, I overheard him say: "come with me into the hallway." He wasn't looking for me, but I went out to see what the deal was, anyway.
We ask him, in the hallway, as he sat back down in his bouncers chair: "is something wrong?" To which he replied, your girlfriend (me) is being too touchy in there. It's inappropriate & I'm going to have to ask you to stop."
Now, we were sitting side by side at the bar. Having a conversation as humans at bars tend to do. My hand may have been on her knee, but there was no valid reason we were being any different than the straight couple across from us swapping spit. We were G rated, in comparison.
Dumb founded as to why Adrian thought it was appropriate to interrupt us from a good time in order to tell us who we can and can't be respectfully intimate with in a public space, we return to the bar and hang for a while longer. Upon leaving, my girlfriend and I both said to Adrian: "that wasn't cool." Now, this is when he went from 0 to belligerent and aggressive. As we ascended the stairs out, he followed us to the bottom. And, eventually, out into the street where he began screaming: "dyke c*nts" over and over at us. He eventually calmed down & went back to his post, and although there was an e-mail written to management the following day, Adrian was still working the next Saturday when we showed up. Adrian was working the door and immediately told us we were not welcome there. While management spoke to us, my girlfriend and I could see Adrian taunting us behind his bosses back. Waving goodbye to us as a school child might. So, management backed him, only bc they had to(it was New Year's Eve and Adrian was the e ntire security operation.) So we were told there would be an investigation on their staff (Adrian) and we left, politely. I am here, writing, because of an injustice. One that was carelessly handled the first time around and then, again.
Please spread the word about men (women, anyone) like Adrian. And discrimination(s) so many face and silently suffer while just trying to...
Read moreAs I am a huge Steelers fan I was looking very forward to going to this bar for the first time. But I guess I made the tragic mistake of going on Superbowl Sunday! I called the bar before I went and nobody informed me that every seat at the bar was $50 a seat. So after I took a expensive Uber to get there just to find out that it was $50 just to sit down unless I stood up against the wall. On top of that when I went to go ask for a beer the rude male bartender informed me that they didn't carry Heineken and said that they only had Bud Light and Budweiser and Coors Light which is absolutely disgusting and I drink real beer. On top of that it does not say on their website or their Instagram or even on Google Maps that's there is a wooden slippery staircase that you must climb down to get to the bar. It was pouring down rain outside that day and they only had one mat at the top which was also soaking wet.The stairs were soaking wet and slippery and scary as hell on Superbowl Sunday! I'm disappointed by the way that I was treated it was really dark down there extremely dark and cold no ventilation so all I could smell was different kinds of food and stale beer and other people's perfumes mixed together. Now mind you I am a huge sports bar fan and I know a good sports bar when I go to one and I am sorry I ever wasted my time on this one. NEVER AGAIN....SEE...
Read moreA cozy underground bar, hidden behind a vault door (and heavy velvet curtains)? What's not to love!
Did I mention the beverages are reasonably priced?
After a fun hour of being locked in a room with seven other strangers (see: Escape Room LA), my friend and I decided a quick beverage was in order before hopping on the metro. Yelp suggested Cranes (well reviewed, and just around the corner from where we were standing), and we obligingly headed in.
After moseying down the stairs, turning right (past the vault door), and parting the curtains, we were greeted with a cozy-yet-not-quite-dark lounge with good music and a huge selection of liquor. We spent the next hour recounting the Escape Room over drinks, and when it was time to leave I was pleasantly surprised with the...
