The waitress who took my order was very polite and efficient. I ordered chicken tenders in buffalo sauce, fries, and broccoli and a strawberry lemonade and a strawberry milkshake. I received my food and headed to my car. Once I started driving I took a swig of my drink and realized that it was basically just water with a hint of strawberry. I figured the drink was just out so I turned around and went through the drive thru and explained the situation. I told the girl at the window what I thought and she said that the lemonade was just fine the box was completely full. I explained to her that that couldn't be possible because what I had literally tasted like water with a hint of strawberry. She proceeded to make me another lemonade I tasted that and it was the same. I explained to her that it was the same and she insisted nothing was wrong. I said just give me a mountain dew instead. She gave me a mountain dew and it was nothing but carbon water. I told her and she got an attitude and walked away. After about 15 she came back with another co-worker who tasted the mountain dew and gave the okay that it was all right and the girl gave me a mountain dew I pulled into a parking spot tasted my mountain dew and guess what nothing but carbon water. I then went inside with all my drinks and food. The lady who tasted the mountain dew came to the counter. I told her the issue and her response was "yeah something's wrong with our drink machine" At this point I was LIVID!!! I'm thinking to myself lady you knew that when you tasted it and gave the the girl the go ahead to give me the drink. Instead of flipping out I just asked for my food and shake to be remade and a sweet which they brew and make. I received my food and the money back for 3 drinks but I just told the waitress she could keep it. By the the time everything was said and done I had lost my appetite. The food was just ok. If you're wondering why I didn't just get my money back and go somewhere else it's because I promised a friend that I would try something different and that was the...
Read moreWe walked into the restaurant and had to wait to be helped. There were five employees, but not one would come over and seat us. The restaurant was not busy. There were three tables of customers, or about 10 people in the restaurant when we got there.
When we finally were seated and our waitress took our drink order. I asked what the soup was. I figured since it was Friday, they would have clam chowder. Nope. It is only available during lent. I ordered the fish dinner and tomato bisque soup. My partner ordered a big boy with fries and onion rings. His burger was messy, more than usual. His onion rings were not golden brown but a light tarnish color. The fries were also white. They did not look good at all. My tomato soup was ok but nothing to write home about. The fish were breaded sticks. They were ok but not great. They were a light tan in color and not crispy. The Mac and cheese was good and cheesy but was not seasoned.
We asked for some dessert to take home. The mini strawberry pie is about 1/6 of a big pie in a larger tart pan. It was good. We also got a piece of hot fudge ice cream cake. It was good but richer than I remembered.
Our waitress tried to do a good job. It seemed like she hadn't been there long. Since we don't live in the area, it was my first time at the Maumee restaurant. So I couldn't really comment on her as a server. The other four employees were looking like they were busy. Only one waitress was bussing tables while the other three were in the back. I probably will not return to this Big Boy...
Read moreThe food was great the service was good. But the new and colorful look must go away. I am writing this note not for the sake of me. But the sake of the community. Many people I know were upset with the new look and wanted the restraunt to be changed back my wife was going to bring it up to you but she did not have the conference to. The changes we would like you to make is to take away the warm colors and restore the white walls and wall trim, The brass panteling above the front counter. We would also like you to change the black wall trim above the soda fountain counter to be changed back to green with brass stripes. Bring back the evolution of big boy that used to be on the wall and the windows that used to be by the salad bar. Change back the doors to a pine stain color. We are writing this note not for the sake of me but the community and the future genarations to admire and discover what big boy was like in its golden age. My friend who is a resident of holland oh said the restraunt’s former look felt like a warm hug and always made him smile. My friend at church said the look filled her with memories and nostalgia. I don’t want my kids the only know about what big boy was like in its golden age I want them to live in it and discover it themselves. I made a petition that got 1,255 signatures at the Best Buy down the road. We only hope this letter will persuade you to change your restraunt back to its former look. So please please please try to change it back for the sake of the community. Pleas please...
